Looking Back at 2019

We are always amazed by how quickly years come and go. As 2019 draws to a close, we invite you to reflect with us as we look back at some of our favorite memories.

Let’s start with a look at the numbers. In 2019, Northrop & Johnson added more than 120 new listings for sale; these included the 236-foot (72m) Tankoa superyacht SOLO, the 180-foot (55m) Trinity MUSTIQUE and the 164-foot (49m) Benetti JO. Northrop & Johnson also welcomed 22 new yachts to its charter fleet, including the 203-foot (61.8m) Viareggio RoMa and the 172-foot (52.3m) Amels APRIL. We once again enjoyed an impressive number of yacht sales with a total of 88 yachts sold in 2019, including a number of new-build yachts, such as the 220-foot (67m) new-build Benetti PROJECT FENESTRA, the 205-foot (62.4m) AMELS 206 and a 164-foot (50m) new-build Crescent. Additional notable sales include the 158-foot (48m) Feadship CAROLINA, the 143-foot (42.2m) Feadship PRAXIS and the 138-foot (42.2m) Sanlorenzo MOKA, which is currently for charter with N&J.

In 2019, the Northrop & Johnson team grew by 17 talented new team members. We are delighted that our Asia office now offers charter and charter management with the addition of Lies Sol as a charter broker and manager. Our Palma team expanded by seven — several yacht brokers, a charter broker and support staff. The crew services department added two new crew services associates to the Fort Lauderdale office.

Also, this year we were thrilled to welcome back several strategic partners, Northern Trust, Chai Rum, Corcoran, Lauderdale Marine Center, Lufthansa First Class. In addition, Northrop & Johnson joined forces with NetJets, EMBARK Beyond, Kwiat and Fred Leighton, Zeelander, Audrain’s Newport Concours and Auto Week and Viasat. These partnerships allow us to provide an elevated level of service and added benefits to our clients and expand our position within the luxury sector.

Northrop & Johnson enjoyed an exceptional year at boat shows around the globe. At the 2019 Monaco Yacht Show, Northrop & Johnson welcomed guests at our stand and aboard the 236-foot (72m) SOLO and the 105-f00t (32m) CHILD OF LIR. Both yachts were hits at the show, with SOLO being one of the most sought-after superyachts at the show. This year Northrop & Johnson debuted a new stand at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and had 11 yachts for sale and seven yachts for charters on display. This new stand was designed to provide clients with a service-centered experience. Showcasing plush covered furnishings, outdoor seating and seated refreshment service, this new stand design elevated the boat show experience for clients. We hope to see you in 2020 on the docks at one of our various events.

This past August, Northrop & Johnson launched our new website. This innovative new site is at the forefront of technology allowing users to easily search thousands of yachts for charter and sale with added criteria to help them narrow down to the perfect yacht. The new how-to guides for yacht purchase, yacht sales and yacht charting give an in-depth guide to help users enjoy a seamless sales or charter process. As we close out 2019, there is much to celebrate and none of it would have been possible without Northrop & Johnson’s exceptional clients, friends, brokers and staff — all treasured members of the Northrop & Johnson family. We wish you the happiest of holidays and a wonderful New Year. See you in 2020!
