The 1990 Spirit of Tradition sailing yacht VOLTERRA boasts a rarefied pedigree with Alden design and engineering, Frers naval architecture and interior styling courtesy of John Munford. She is a versatile yacht, designed and built to the highest standards in yachting. Hull and deck are aluminum with teak overlay on decks and teak veneer on cabin trunk sides and cockpit. She is a classic beauty that offers all modern amenities. VOLTERRA's consistent maintenance has left her in exceptional condition. She has been repowered with a Cummins QSB main and Northern Lights generator. VOLTERRA's Stars and Stripes blue topsides were painted in 2018. The sailing yacht is a proven performer with multiple award wins under her belt.
For a yacht this size, the main salon is a spacious locale with open access to the galley. A wide settee with a Pullman berth is to starboard that can be used to accommodate additional guests. A privacy curtain is available to ensure optimal seclusion. To port is an L-shaped settee that doubles as a six-person dining table with a cushioned bench. For relaxed movie nights, a 3' x 6' screen opens to port with an overhead projector. A full library of movies and a few bookshelves filled with exciting literature are included. The large American-style galley offers a space for culinary masterpieces to be created. Meals can be served in the below-deck dining area or the cockpit for alfresco dining. VOLTERRA's interior styling was designed by John Munford, showcasing a traditional yachting design with raised-panel Cherry cabinetry and furniture trim, white tongue and groove headliners, solid teak/holly soles and light-blue ultra-suede upholstery. Her comfortable and welcoming design welcomes guests and will have them feeling right at home.
VOLTERRA welcomes six guests in three well-appointed staterooms. Owner's quarters are forward of the main salon with a double berth to port and single to starboard. The double converts to a single or a settee as needed. The en-suite bathroom is forward with a separate shower stall. A cozy pleated armchair with a reading lamp faces aft. Two identical quarter cabins with side-by-side twin berths accommodate the additional four guests. Upper and lower berths are to one side in the forepeak with en-suite faculties for crew.
John Alden's interpretation of a Spirit of Tradition yacht set the design stage for many to follow. The sheerline is just right, the flush foredeck allows easy sail handling, and the varnished cockpit is reminiscent of an early 1900s Herreshoff meter yachts. The faux-Spruce mast and boom of carbon-fiber complete the picture. Many yachts claim to be the "prettiest in the harbor," but all will surrender that distinction when VOLTERRA appears.
