N&J LOOKS BACK AT 2016

Posted February 15, 2019 in Company by Janine St.Denis

First, a brief look at the numbers. In 2016, Northrop & Johnson opened three new offices and hired 25 new team members around the world. We attended 12 major yachting events, hosted numerous bespoke events, added 112 new listings for sale and added 41 charter yachts to our global fleet. We also sold more than 110 yachts between 50 and 240 feet in length.

One of the biggest successes of 2016 for Northrop & Johnson was our global expansion. The first office to open was in Burleigh Heads, Australia; Managing Director Cameron Bray, Charter Broker Andrea Guerin and Charter/Office Manager Crystal Corrin all joined the team. The office also brought on Juliette van Bueren from the Hong Kong office as a Charter Broker.

The Newport Beach, California, office was the second new N&J office to open in 2016. Sales Brokers Jim Elliott, Todd Rittenhouse, Tom Corkett and Dennis Moran, all formerly of Ardell Yacht & Ship Brokers became part of N&J, along with Office Manager Kristen Stiles.

Finally in 2016, Northrop & Johnson was the first international brokerage house to open an office in China. Executive Directors for Northrop & Johnson Asia are Hugo van Schaik and Feng Ye; local managers in China include Jin Hai Shen, Pan Jian and Ericka Duan. The head office is located in Nanjing

Northrop & Johnson also was recognized with a lot of accolades in 2016. For the second year in a row, Northrop & Johnson was named Best Asia-Based Charter Company and the Newport, Rhode Island office was voted Best Yacht Brokerage in Newport. Additionally, individual Northrop & Johnson brokers had some big news. Crom Littlejohn was awarded FYBA Sales Broker of the Year and Charter Director Fiona Maureso was named MYBA President for her second term.

This year also brought on big sales, including the sale of the 81M Royal Huisman project by Sales Broker Bart Kimman and new partners; Northrop & Johnson welcomed Chai Rum as a global luxury partner in 2016. Finally, Northrop & Johnson rounded out the year as the largest superyacht exhibitor at the 2016 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, with 25 yachts on display.

There is much to be celebrated as we close out 2016 and none of it would have been possible without the exceptional clients, friends, brokers and staff, who all are of the utmost importance to the Northrop & Johnson family. And now we wish you the happiest holidays and a successful New Year. See you in 2017!
