81M ROYAL HUISMAN NEW BUILD SOLD BY NORTHROP & JOHNSON

Posted February 15, 2019 in Brokerage & New Build by Janine St.Denis

This new build project is extremely exciting and will be the largest yacht to date build at the Royal Huisman shipyard in Vollenhove, Netherlands. Once completed with her overall length of 266-feet (81m), this sailing behemoth will fall in rank as one of the top 10 largest sailing yachts in the world. A three-masted schooner, she is set to be technologically advanced and feature chic, contemporary lines and design. She will be built to Lloyds MCA classification, draw 20 feet (6m) and have a 41-foot (12m) beam. This 81m project will offer accommodations for up to 12 guests and 13 crew.

Also involved in the project are Dykstra Naval Architects and Designer Mark Whiteley, who will come together with Royal Huisman to create a stunning dream come true for the client.

Northrop & Johnson Asia Managing Director Bart Kimman has played an integral role within the project and will continue to do so throughout the build. “I sailed my first Fastnet Race in 1975 on a Royal Huisman named SPIRIT OF DELFT; Gerry Dykstra was watch leader,” says Kimman. “I am very proud that 41 years later I have been able to bring these legends together again in the sale of this outstanding yacht-to-be!”

This Royal Huisman new project is being built for an Asian client who has requested that the builder, naval architects and designer “build him his dream.” Kimman, who brought the buyer to Royal Huisman, has extensive expertise working in the Asian market. He has lived in Asia for more than 30 years and opened the first international yacht brokerage in the region in 2008. “Asia has only just started to grow as a yachting region,” says Kimman. “It will grow steadily and with ups and downs as infrastructure and regulations come on line. It is a complex regulatory process with different authorities involved. But remember, it is a natural water sports area. I can see exponential growth in another two years; one more generation. It is a buyers market. The buyers will find the market,” he proclaims.

Thanks to the yachting experience of Kimman, combined with the expert yacht-building prowess of Royal Huisman, Dykstra Naval Architects and Designer Mark Whiteley, the owner can expect to receive his dream yacht.
