Built by Westerly Marine, the 60-foot (18m) sailing yacht REEF POINTS was conceived to be easily driven and handled for family cruising.

REEF POINTS build specifications went above and beyond to create an innovative high-performance cruiser/racer that would be comfortable offshore, yet still live nicely on the dock behind a home with a limited draft.

The sailing yacht’s interior is warm and inviting making you feel at home with stunning American cherry wood throughout that highlights the yacht’s amazing craftsmanship. REEF POINTS accommodates six guests in three well-appointed staterooms. The yacht’s master stateroom features a centerline queen berth and an abundance of storage with a private en-suite bath that showcases a walk-in shower. The yacht’s mirroring guest staterooms have upper and lower hinged berths — forward of each guest stateroom is a bathroom with shower.

REEF POINTS’ ergonomics are exceptional boasting twin wheels, hydraulically operated traveler and main sheet. Relish the wind in your hair as you sail or enjoy an alfresco meal aboard with family and friends; the yachts traditional cockpit that is protected and shaded.

Under current ownership, the yacht’s turbo spinnaker pole was traded for a bow sprit; it is complemented by her new asymmetrical downwind sail package to create a magical combination.

Broker Overview

The credit of this magnificent design and build concept belongs to the creative mind of Mr. Roy Disney. A truly stunning mix of performance, form and function all wrapped up in the most attractive package imaginable. The team at Reichel /Pugh Yacht Design and Westerly Marine of Southern California and the top notch project managers and build coordinators from PYWACKET racing rounded out the dream and vison to precise measures.

REEF POINTS has undergone a recent transformation to enhance her performance, ease of handling, and overall enjoyment. The massive over length spinnaker pole handled by three deck crew has been replaced by a custom engineered and fabricated removable carbon fiber bow sprit. A three sail, downwind inventory dimensioned to work with the sprit complete the package. Cuban Fiber Code Zero on a KZ Furler with Future Fibers Cable Luff System plus a new A-2 and A-3 simply to name a few.
Upwind performance has been enhanced by the conversion from roller reefing to new slab reef carbon boom by Offshore Spars complimented by a fully battened North 3DI Raw mainsail with lazy jacks and 3DI Raw furling medium jib. The yacht is easily converted from racing to cruising sail plan overnight by a crew of two, however still easily day sailed in race form with slab reefed boom. Set up either way, all equipment is found in excellent condition!

Cockpit

A centerpiece of her design, the large cockpit, can be accessed from either the retractable stern boarding platform or lifeline gates port and starboard. A walk-through between the twin helm stations leads to the lengthy cockpit seats separated by a teak fold-down dining table, with ample storage beneath the center leaf. Protected by full width dodger, this spacious cockpit with down lighting from the boom makes for an ideal entertainment area and al fresco dining.

Both helm stations, which feature carbon fiber wheels, are within “finger-tip” reach of all sail handling controls and the windlass, which enables one person to set sail from the helm. Instrumentation displays include repeaters from the navigation station close-by and easy to read 40/40s on the mast.

Deck

It is a delight to walk forward on the uncluttered deck where all the opening deck hatches are recessed.
The sail and chain locker, with independent bilge pump and fresh water wash-down controls, is well laid out with ample stowage space for sails, fenders, dock lines and cleaning gear.
The anchor and roller are extracted from a recessed well hydraulically, then handled via a Lewmar windlass with a wildcat.

Walktrough

Entering down wide scooped companionway steps, the first impression is of lightness from the port-lights and opening deck hatches.  Combined with Majilite headliner panels and cherry wood interior the results are a tasteful contrast with the teak and holly cabin sole.

Immediately to starboard is the navigation station with a comfortable seat and good size chart table where all the electronics, monitoring displays and hinged electrical panels are easily read and accessed.

Forward on starboard is the gourmet galley with stone counter tops, three refrigeration boxes, double stainless steel sinks and ample storage.

Moving forward of the salon in the hallway is a work counter space and a size able storage pantry.

Forward of the hallway is the large master stateroom with a center line “walk around” queen size bed with opening hatches above providing light and ventilation. There is ample stowage within drawers, cupboards and a full length-hanging locker. The spacious, bright and airy head features a full size stall shower and granite countertops.

Aft of the main salon to port and starboard are mirror image wet heads with shower. Both heads are easily accessed by day guests and also service the addition guest cabins to port and starboard. Guest cabins have single hinged upper berth and fixed lower berths. The port cabin inboard bulkhead door allows access to the very generous and workable machinery space.
