Dodecanese Yacht Charter Guide

The East Mediterranean country of Greece is one of wonder and charm.

Nestled in the striking waters of the Aegean Sea are the Dodecanese Islands, where you can spend your yacht charter exploring the unspoiled gems and sweeping beaches of some of the finest cruising grounds.

Home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, you must visit Rhodes during your Dodecanese yacht charter. The largest of the islands, the Colossus of Rhodes, was a statue erected to the god Helios in 280 B.C. Though it fell during an earthquake some 50 years later, the 30-meter high statue was one of the tallest in the ancient world and remnants can still be seen today. This is just some of the magic you’ll experience when cruising the Dodecanese aboard your luxury yacht. This island also is ripe with historical sites, from temples to castles. If you’re keen to visit, they’re worth adding to your itinerary, but if lazing about and soaking in the Greek sunshine is more your speed, Rhodes also is home to stunning beaches, some busy, others tranquil and less frequented. Beyond its historical and natural wonders, you will find a cosmopolitan vibe buzzing in Rhodes. If you’ve had your fill of dining aboard the yacht, many posh eateries and enticing clubs cater to yachting’s elite.

Also on the itinerary is the island of Kos, which, despite its size, has a lot to offer. A place of ancient literature, Kos receives a mention in Homer’s “Iliad,” which will delight any lit fans among the guests. The beaches here are not to be missed. The captain and crew can set up beach picnics for any meal you choose or can tender you ashore and allow you to enjoy solitude. Agios Stefanos beach is pristine and quiet if that’s your speed.

If adventure is what you seek during a Dodecanese yacht charter, consider a stop on Nisyros, between Kos and Tilos. One of the most beautiful of the Dodecanese isles, the volcanic crater is walkable. If you work up an appetite while traversing the crater and exploring, many local tavernas offer fresh-caught, delicious seafood, a true delicacy of the region.
