Northrop & Johnson is pleased to announce a $1,400,000 price reduction on the 172’ (52.43m) custom schooner DONA FRANCISCA, listed for sale with Yacht Broker Sean McCarter in Palma. She is now offered at $13,500,000.

Delivered in 2014 by Astilleros Buquebus and refit in 2024, DONA FRANCISCA is a remarkable sailing yacht that blends classic golden age styling with modern engineering and ocean-going capability. Inspired by the traditional sailing yachts of the early 1900s, she was constructed in Montevideo over a five-year period in collaboration with leading international specialists and stands as one of the world’s largest carbon fiber sailing yachts.

Designed by Javier Soto Acebal, DONA FRANCISCA combines timeless lines with a highly practical sailing platform. Her carbon fiber hull, masts and boom provide strength, lightness and corrosion resistance, while her shallow 11’5” (3.5m) draft allows access to cruising grounds and smaller ports that remain out of reach for many yachts of her size. A large rudder and two Maxpower R600 thrusters further enhance maneuverability.

Built for long-distance cruising, DONA FRANCISCA offers a crossing speed of over 10 knots under engine power and can reach 17 knots under sail. Her successful Atlantic crossing in 2023 demonstrated her capability as a true world-cruising yacht, offering comfort, safety and performance for extended passages.

Her 2023-2024 refit included aesthetic carpentry, rigging paintwork and comprehensive maintenance, ensuring she remains in strong condition for her next owner. Onboard, her interior reflects the elegance of classic 1900s yachts, with extensive use of wood, bronze detailing, traditional lamps and natural light brought in through deck prisms. The full-beam main salon and dining area create an inviting central space for relaxing, dining and entertaining.

Accommodation is for up to eight guests across four cabins, including a full-beam owner’s suite and well-appointed guest cabins. DONA FRANCISCA was also designed to be operated with a minimal crew, with hydraulic systems supporting all sailing operations and reducing the need for physical manpower onboard.

RINA certified and recently refit, DONA FRANCISCA represents a rare opportunity to acquire a distinctive, highly capable carbon fiber sailing yacht with classic styling, proven ocean-crossing ability and excellent access to shallow cruising areas.
