2021 Monaco Yacht Show Wrap Up

After a 12-month hiatus, the Monaco Yacht Show was back hosting the crème de la crème of yachts from Wednesday, September 22nd to Saturday, September 25th in the iconic Port Hercules and countless more yachts at anchor in the bay.

“The show was a great success,” says Northrop & Johnson Managing Director Europe Patrick Coote. “The feedback from the show and atmosphere at the show were both very positive,” he adds.

Northrop & Johnson was delighted to be in attendance at this year’s event with four superyachts on display and several other spectacular yachts conveniently located at anchor or near the show for viewings. Northrop & Johnson’s display included the stunning 164’ (50m) ISA yacht LIBERTY, which is available for sale and charter; the impressive 164’ (50m) Mangusta yacht DA VINCI, available for charter; the beautiful 154’ (48m) Feadship yacht GITANA, available for sale; and the well-priced 147’ (45m) Astondoa yacht PANAKEIA, available for sale. With a multitude of superyachts located at anchor, Northrop & Johnson offered the 53’ (16m) Sichterman yacht LIBERTAS ONE, which is available for sale, as a tender for clients who wish to visit the yachts out in the bay.

“We had countless viewings each day and a lot of strong interest on our yachts on display states Patrick. “It was clear that there were fewer yachts and fewer people at this year’s show, but overall, those in attendance were high quality and seriously interested in purchasing or chartering. Additionally, the client experience was better giving a more exclusive feeling and the ability for clients to more easily tour the yachts on display. As expected, there were far fewer Americans and those from the Far East than normal, however, we were pleased that it was more than made up for by the number of people from Europe and the Middle East.”

The show kicked off with the sun shining as attendees converged on the docks. Perfectly timed, Northrop & Johnson’s new Monaco office opened the day before the show and welcomed clients daily. Significantly larger than our previous office and offering sweeping views of Port Hercules, the office provided the perfect base and an oasis of calm for clients. Our brokers were busy with more than just the show as we closed on the sale of the 220’ (67m) Feadship yacht ANNA 1, bringing the buyer to the table. In fact, they stayed busy throughout the week with several other sales announced.

When the sunset, the fun did not end. On the opening day of the show, Wednesday, September 22nd, LIBERTY welcomed N&J clients and strategic partner Ulysse Nardin clients for an evening cocktail. The following night, LIBERTY once again welcomed guests for an evening soirée with Ulysse Nardin and renowned Monaco jewelry and watch boutique Zegg & Cerlati. That same evening, N&J team members were invited by H.S.H. Prince Albert II to the Palace with a number of esteemed guests and celebrities for the Planetary Health Gala, which is dedicated to the ocean, earth and humanity.

Also, on Thursday night DA VINCI hosted a “DA VINCI Code” cocktail party where the crew showcased their best talents to 60 lucky N&J clients and brokers with Italian elegance and beauty. DA VINCI was built in Tuscany and often cruises around the Italian island of Capri, Sardinia, the Amalfi Coast or the Italian Riviera. Therefore, Torciano Wines offered our lucky guests a wine tasting with some of the best Tuscan wines. Champagne from Comte de Monte-Carlo was also on offer with a special display of the 12 liters Ocean bottle painted in deep blue with diamonds. As a perfect complement to the wine and champagne, there was an impressive Apericena (Aperitivo + Cena) catered by two chefs from Capri. Throughout the evening guests also enjoyed products from the boutique hotel La Zagara in Capri, treasure hunts, a magician and music that had people dancing.

Friday afternoon, DA VINCI welcomed strategic partner Louis XIII for a champagne and cognac toast with food pairing.

At 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 25th, the yachts blasted their horns marking the end of the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show.
