2021 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show Wrap-Up

Posted November 4, 2021 in Events by Ashleigh King

Hailed as the world’s largest boat show, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show was the place to be for yachting aficionados from October 27 to 31, 2021. Northrop & Johnson was elated to be back in the show this year, participating with some of our most opulent superyachts. The sun was shining while locals and visitors strolled the docks in search of their next yacht for sale or charter. Our Signature Lounge was located on the floating face dock and welcomed guests to escape the heat and enjoy refreshments and lite bites as well as visit with some of our wonderful strategic partners. Our bar featured wine and Champagne from Penfolds for clients to enjoy. Northrop & Johnson’s international team of brokers and our strategic partners Penfolds, NetJets, Zeelander, Ulysse Nardin and Bahama Boat Works came together to create a vibrant atmosphere.

N&J captains cocktail 2021

Before the show was in full swing, on Monday, October 25, Northrop & Johnson kicked off FLIBS with a captain’s cocktail party at YOT bar and kitchen, just below our Fort Lauderdale office. More than 75 captains mixed and mingled with N&J brokers and staff members and our strategic partners during this lively evening on the water in Fort Lauderdale.

Northrop & Johnson was delighted to showcase seven superyachts on display at our show lounge and three around the show. Our collection included the beautiful 161’ (49.07m) Trinity ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM, available for sale and charter; the stunning 151’ (46.02m) Benetti LADY S, available for sale; the impressive 150’ (45.72m) Cheoy Lee QING, available for sale; the awe-inspiring 125’ (38.1m) Benetti INSPIRATION, available for sale; the stunning 120’ (36.58m) Christensen DREAM WEAVER, available for sale; and the seaworthy 54’ (16.66m) Viking BANDIT, available for sale. Northrop & Johnson also featured a Zeelander Z72 on display for enthusiasts to enjoy. Some of Northrop & Johnson’s superyachts around the show included the remarkable 189’ (57.6m) Feadship W; the luxurious 155’ (46.94m) Admiral RHINO; and the sleek 109’ (33m) Mangusta (Overmarine) DOPAMINE, all available for charter.

Northrop & Johnson welcomed students from New River Middle School, Marine Science and iCAN Magnet Programs to tour a few of our superyachts on display. These are the next generation of passionate students in the marine science industry and N&J was more than happy to share this unique experience with them.

One of Northrop & Johnson’s most extraordinary features this year at FLIBS was the addition of our Signature Estate located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale on the Intracoastal Waterway. Our clients enjoyed private transportation options, including Rolls-Royce car transfers and tender rides, taking them to and from the Signature Estate to relax and socialize in a lively atmosphere during the show. The stunning windows in the main living area allowed for unbeatable Intracoastal views while guests sipped Champagne and ate hors d’oeuvres. Friday evening, Northrop & Johnson hosted a client cocktail party that was one to remember. Our strategic partner Louis XIII offered private toasts of its world-renowned cognac, and Rolls-Royce had two cars on display for guests to marvel at. Throughout the evening, guests observed a watchmaker from Ulysse Nardin and gaped at beautiful displays of timepieces. N&J also showcased a cigar bar courtesy of Northern Trust and custom luggage Rimowa tags from NetJets. All in all, the evening was a total success in celebrating FLIBS.
