Bahamas Still Open for Business

The beautiful islands of The Bahamas are ready and waiting for you. Despite the devastation on Grand Bahama and The Abacos islands caused by Hurricane Dorian — these two islands are closed for the foreseeable future — the archipelago’s more than 700 other islands are open and perfectly suited for welcoming a luxury yacht charter; these islands include Bimini, Nassau, the Berry Islands, Andros, Eleuthera, Cat Island, Exumas, Long Island, San Salvador, Rum Cay, Acklins Island, Crooked Island, Mayaguana Island and Great Inagua Island among others.

Many are clamoring to aid the islands in recovery. According to The Bahamas Tourism Board, the best way to help is to visit. In a recent release press release, the board advises “As the public seeks information on how they can best help the country recover, The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation (BMOTA) urges consumers to know that the best thing they can do for the country, now more than ever, is simple: visit The Bahamas.”

The Association of Bahamas Marinas advises in a recent blog post that tourism makes up almost 70 percent of the country’s GDP. By visiting The Bahamas, the generated revenue will, in turn, help the Abacos and Grand Bahamas rebuild after the hurricane.

“Maintaining a robust tourism industry will be vital in helping the country to recover and rebuild,” said Bahamas Minister of Tourism & Aviation Dionisio D’Aguilar in a recent press release. “We are grateful for the outpouring of support and love for our islands, and we would like everyone to know that the best thing they can do for us right now is visit Nassau, Paradise Island and the Out Islands. Our beautiful island nation is ready to welcome you.”

Many in the yachting community have jumped in to help assist the islands of Grand Bahama and the Abacos. YachtAidGlobal and Hope4HopeTown are heavily involved nonprofits. Additional information on aid can be found here.
