Hi, I'm Elvis Sipe, Sales Broker at Northrop & Johnson. My role is to pair you with the boat that best fits how you actually spend your time on the water, not the first one that catches your eye. Buying a yacht should feel like the beginning of a lifestyle, not a transaction, and I treat it that way from the first conversation to long after the deal closes. There is nothing that makes me happier in this business than getting a new client onto the boat that is truly right for them, and watching the joy on their face on delivery day.
My Past
I was born in Fort Lauderdale and raised between South Florida and the Steel City — Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — though Florida has always felt like home. Summers meant boating on Pittsburgh's three rivers; the rest of the year was spent enjoying South Florida, and its waterways. Time on the water was never a hobby I picked up somewhere along the way. It's simply where I've always been.
While earning a B.S. in Economics at Florida State University, I discovered that my calling was in sales, and worked across a number of industries in college before I finally fell into yacht brokerage: the place where it all clicked. I'm coming off two strong years at a well-respected firm, where I was a top producer in my division, worked on a new-boat product team, and closed a number of brokerage deals along the way.
What I bring that's harder to teach is something that I credit to my family, who have created and produced many of South Florida's premier events for more than 45 years. Hospitality and an innate ability to connect with people are traits that come naturally to me and it's why I care less about selling the boat and more about getting it right: the right vessel for the right client, matched to the way they truly live on the water.
My Future
I'm building toward something specific: becoming the long-term, go-to broker for a small, elite circle of clients who know that whatever they need, I'll have the answer. To me, this is a way of life, not a job, and Northrop & Johnson is exactly the place I see myself spending a long and fruitful career in yacht brokerage. It's a house with the reputation, the standards, and some of the people I've looked up to since I started, and my goal is to carry that legacy forward: to be the name my clients and my peers associate with dependability, and someone who can be counted on, every time.
My Motto
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can't- you're right." — Henry Ford
My Outside-Office Life
Away from the docks, I love watching my Alma mater FSU play football, and am a lifelong soccer fan who follows the U.S. men's national team, and a few club teams. I love to travel, and I'll take any excuse to get out on the golf course. Above all, I'm a family man: I come from a big family, and the people around me are what it's all about.
