From Wednesday, September 27 to Saturday, September 30, the stunning city perched on the sparkling Mediterranean was the epicenter of the yachting industry. Northrop & Johnson was delighted to once again be in attendance with brokers and staff from around the world. In addition, Northrop & Johnson had a multitude of yachts in the show and at anchor for viewing. In the Northrop & Johnson display was the stunning brand-new Overmarine luxury yacht DA VINCI. This striking 164-foot (50m) motor yacht is available for charter with Northrop & Johnson and welcomed a steady flow of clients to visit her impressive decks and alluring interior. Also on display was the impressive 140-foot (42.65m) luxury sailing yacht APHRODITE A. Taking cues from her namesake, the goddess of love, this yacht is enchanting and enjoyed a very successful show with lots of foot traffic. In addition to these yachts, Northrop & Johnson luxury yacht for charter VERTIGE was on display with Tankoa shipyard. Easily one of the hottest tickets at the show, everyone wanted to pop on to take a peek at the yard’s sumptuous brand-new build. A variety of Northrop & Johnson co-centrals also were in the show; these included the extraordinary 198-foot (60m) Feadship ROCK.IT and the lovely 88-foot (26.7m) sailing yacht VIVID.
Following with tradition, Northrop & Johnson kicked off its show festivities on Monday, September 25 with the annual Captains Meet in the Med dinner. More than 50 captains joined Northrop & Johnson brokers and sponsors Chai Rum and Marsh Insurance for an evening of wining and dining at Beef Bar.
On Wednesday, September 27, the show entrances opened and the docks were flooded with attendees. Thankfully, Northrop & Johnson welcomed guests in a larger stand this year with ample space for everyone to enjoy the amenities. Northrop & Johnson’s partner Lufthansa was on hand at the show, providing morning pastries and afternoon libations and canapes, as well as a much-appreciated cool towel service courtesy of stewardesses from Lufthansa and Swiss First Class. Chai Rum was on hand to offer clients a taste of their delightful, unique, award-winning rum. Northrop & Johnson Partners Marsh Insurance, Crystal Cruises and Lauderdale Marine Center also were at the show, offering their services to N&J clients.
For those who wanted to pop out of the port to see the yachts at anchor, Northrop & Johnson offered CNM and Anvera tenders. While out of the port, clients could visit Northrop & Johnson yachts DOUBLE DOWN, a 214-foot (65m) Codecasa motor yacht, and ILLUSION, a 183-foot (56m) Feadship motor yacht. Northrop & Johnson also offered a courtesy car to clients in order to easily move about town.
Wednesday evening, the stunning motor yacht VERTIGE was the place to be as it hosted Northrop & Johnson’s annual ’49 Elite Monaco event. Guests were delighted by hors-d’oeuvres, specialty cocktails crafted by Chai Rum, Champagne and rosé from the famed Chateau d’Esclans, which provided sips of its incredible vintages. Partygoers stayed on well past the end time, enjoying the libations and music by Sisters G Events. A wonderful time was had by all.
Not to be outdone by the yacht in the berth next door, on Friday it was DA VINCI’s turn to welcome guests aboard. The gold-and-diamond themed event paid homage to the opulent style of the yacht. Guests were decked out in all that glitters and once again enjoyed specialty Chai Rum cocktails and delightful rosé from Chateau d’Esclans, as well as canapes crafted by the yacht’s five-star chef. We’re told the merriment continued into the wee hours.
As the yachts blasted their horns at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, everyone cheered and raised a glass to a show well done. Overall, the show was quite busy, the atmosphere was lively and there was a very optimistic mood in the air. We’re looking forward to the 2017 Fort Lauderdale show with the same enthusiasm. We hope to see you on the docks at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show!
