Northrop & Johnson spotlights Sales Broker Sébastien Clavé. In 2005, after two years in the motor trade business working for Lamborghini and Ferrari, Sébastien decided it was time for a career change. He entered the world of yachting and immediately realized he had found his true passion. In July 2018, Sébastien joined the Northrop & Johnson Monaco team. Sébastien has worked with a multitude of clients, brokering deals, working on new construction projects, handling flag-state regulations, and much more. His outstanding expertise in all aspects of the yachting business, with multiple deals to his credit, makes him an excellent asset to the N&J team.

How did you get into the yachting industry and what led you to where you are today?

I got into the yachting industry while working in the motor trade business. I met a client who bought a yacht and was able to meet the team who sold him the yacht. One month later, I joined the yachting industry, working for the same team. I worked with that company for 13 years before moving to N&J in 2018.

What do you think makes N&J special?

It’s a worldwide company established in 1949 with a startup spirit. The N&J team has a very young spirit and always wants to improve itself with new technology and a new way of working.

What do you like most about your job?

Every day is different and has its own surprises…

What accomplishment at N&J makes you most proud?

Selling a new yacht with Canados after less than one year in the company.

What is your favorite cruising destination and why?

Corsica because of its landscapes and amazing nature.

If you had a yacht what type of yacht would you have?

A fast motor yacht like Pershing or Overmarine GranSport.

If you had a yacht where would you spend the most time aboard?

Playing with water toys and having a nice dinner on a deck with a 360 sea view.

What is one fun/unique fact about yourself?

I have the same passion for sports cars and fast motor yachts. I am able to talk to clients with the same passion for these two subjects.

What is one tip for first-time clients?

Get to know your broker, you never know what other passions you may share. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions, we are here to help you make finding or selling your yacht an easy process for you.

Any additional information you would like to share?

I enjoy working with colleagues from the other services (charter, management, insurance, and crew) it is great to have everyone easily accessible to assist our clients.
