Luxury Redefined: Discovering the Opulent Palmer Johnson AQUANOVA

Posted June 16, 2023 in Charter by Ashleigh King

Built for performance and luxury cruising, the 150’ (45.72m) AQUANOVA is an impressive, stylish and fun charter yacht with a stellar reputation. The sleek Palmer Johnson was built in 2007 with spacious decks for dining, entertainment and relaxation. Boasting a chic interior by Nuvolari-Lenard and refurbished between 2019 and 2022, she has been meticulously maintained by her highly professional crew of eight.

Stepping inside the open-plan main salon, guests are welcomed into a chic and refined atmosphere. Oversized windows allow daylight to stream throughout, highlighting the plush fabrics and classic furnishings. This is the perfect space for pre-dinner cocktails at the full bar, dinner at the adjacent formal dining area, or relaxation and conversation in the sumptuous lounge area.

Leave behind the hurried pace of 21st-century life as you are whisked away by one of AQUANOVA’s sterling crewmembers to find your ideal relaxation spot. This might be the sundeck, which is one of the most popular areas on the yacht during the day. Guests will have their pick of lounge areas in the sun and shade, while some might prefer to soak in the Jacuzzi, followed by a refreshing drink at the sit-up bar.

The yacht also has a Peloton bike located on this deck if you’re interested in working up a sweat while taking in the incredible views. After a morning spent relaxing, head down to the aft deck for an alfresco lunch at the large dining table for 10. Exquisitely prepared by AQUANOVA’s chefs, the cuisine is both light and nutritious, with dishes inspired by locally sourced, seasonal produce. The aft deck is also a great place to enjoy entertainment thanks to TVs located to port and starboard. A cozy lounge area is found aft, as is a giant sunpad and access to the yacht’s beach club/swim platform. Here, guests can jump in to swim in the 20×20 seapool with lounges – the ultimate on-water experience – while some might prefer to take advantage of the large array of watertoys.

Back on board, guests can choose to socialize at the sundeck bar, while younger members of the charter party can enjoy a movie in the dedicated cinema. When it’s time to retire, AQUANOVA’s accommodations envelop guests in absolute luxury. Five staterooms, all located below deck, include a full-beam master suite, featuring a king-size bed and his-and- hers ensuite bathroom. Two queen staterooms and two twin convertible cabins combine to offer a dynamic layout well-suited for families and groups of friends.

The Destination
Pair adventure and conservation as you cruise the Caribbean or Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Explore the Osa Peninsula and the Corcovado National Park with its dense rainforests filled with the calls of monkeys and exotic birdsong, tumbling waterfalls and iridescent butterflies. It’s nature’s very own playground. AQUANOVA provides the perfect base to take in the 800 miles of this pristine coastline, hopping between beach-fringed islands and plunging into the wild interior with kayak tours and waterfall hikes. From kite surfing and diving to helicoptering into volcanic jungles, expect unique wildlife viewing in Costa Rica’s verdant forests. Spot brightly colored birdlife, red-eyed tree frogs and three-toed sloths. Back on board, tag sharks with leading conservationists and swim with spinner dolphins.

Travel further south and discover the Darién Province and Archipiélago de las Perlas – aka the Pearl Islands of Panama – before cruising to the Isla Coiba. One of the largest marine parks in the world, the area has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is only accessible with a special permit. However, it is worth venturing here for its world-class diving and one of the largest coral reefs in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Wherever you choose to cruise, there’s certainly no shortage of natural beauty to explore during an adventure in these waters.

The Marinas
Board AQUANOVA in the Marina Bahia Golfito. Overlooking Bahia Dulce, Golfito, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica,
