Cruise into the Wilderness of ALASKA Yacht Charters

Posted February 26, 2020 in Charter by Morgan Crowe

A yacht charter in Alaska is unlike any other.

With an astounding blend of wildlife and breathtaking landscape you never know what awe-inspiring animal or scenery is just around the bend. Onboard a luxury yacht charter, the possibilities for once-in-a-life-time experiences in Alaska are endless. You can use the yacht’s tender to go search for wildlife, such as bears, whales, seals and bald eagles or take a seaplane tour and soar above the majestic mountains. Alaska also offers heli-skiing, helicopter glacier tours, first-class hiking, fly fishing and so much more.

Day 1 – Juneau

Your adventure begins in the state’s historic capital city of Juneau.  After exploring the local culture, you will disembark from Auke Bay and head north around the tip of Admiralty Island and continue to Neka Bay, which is located near the native village of Hoonah. Take the yacht’s tender to set crab traps out before the sunset.

Day 2 – Hoonah

Spend the morning hauling your crab traps, which should now be filled with Alaskan Dungeness crab. Explore the village of Hoonah, where you can take in the native arts and culture. In the afternoon, head south to the secluded Takatz Bay and anchor near a gushing waterfall. For dinner enjoy an Alaskan style Crab Cookout with the crab that was caught earlier in the day.

Day 3 – Takatz Bay

Head ashore to the Hidden Falls Hatchery, which is where thousands of salmon are taking their fascinating journey upstream from the sea – if you are lucky you might see a bear. Return to the boat and head south to Warm Springs. Upon arrival, take a boardwalk hike to the picturesque Baranof Lake. In the afternoon, journey through the narrow cut of Red Bluff Bay and anchor for the night.

Day 4 – Baranof Warm Springs

Arrive at the south end of Admiralty Island. In the afternoon, venture out for world-class fishing for salmon and trophy-size halibut. Have a genuine sea-to-table experience with your catch prepared to perfection by the yacht’s chef. After dinner set a few crab traps or head out in the tender to explore the surrounding islands inhabited by sea lions.

Day 5 – Red Bluff Bay

In the morning, cross Frederick Sound in search of Humpback whales working in teams as they effectively accomplish their lively feeding patterns know as bubble netting. That afternoon cruise Seymour Canal to look for Brown bears feeding on one of the most abundant salmon runs that Southeast Alaska has to offer. Once at anchor go on a relaxing kayak paddle or tour the shoreline in the tender as the sunsets over the mountains.

Day 6 – Pybus Bay

Cruise to the mouth of Holkham Bay and anchor below the breathtaking SumDum Glacier, which will be your view for the evening’s anchorage. Take in the icebergs passing by as the tide flows out of Tracy and Endicott Arm.

Day 7 – Tracy Arm Fjord

As you cruise through the majestic passage of Tracy Arm Fjord to the stunning North Sawyer Glacier, enjoy the sites while relishing a delectable breakfast. When you’re ready to explore, hop in the tender for a closer look at the massive icebergs as well as wildlife including eagles, seals, mountain goats and the distinctive Dall’s porpoise.

Day 8 – Juneau

At daybreak, transit through Stephens’s Passage and on to Gastineau Channel, arriving in Juneau. Have a final meal aboard and disembark the yacht with a lifetime full of memories.
