Amalfi, At Your Own Pace

Posted March 31, 2026 in Charter

Many destinations are meant not only to be seen with your eyes, but also experienced. And we don’t mean hurried excursions or dinners ashore at the most congested tourist spots. There is vacationing, and then there is chartering, and we believe The Amalfi Coast requires the latter.

Amalfi is a destination that feels just right when spring slips into early summer. The light softens and turns into long, warm summer, and everything moves at a more leisurely pace. This is La Dolce Vita, without trying too hard.

The coastal charm of Sorrento with cliffside buildings overlooking the tranquil sea.

Seen from the deck of your charter yacht, the Amalfi coastline shows off in all of her picturesque glory. Cliffs drop straight into the sea, pastel towns stack into the hillsides, and hidden coves appear where the only way in is by boat. It’s dramatic, but never overdone.

Having your own yacht changes the entire experience. You’re not working around the coast, you’re moving with it. If a bay looks too good to pass, you stop. If lunch runs long, you stay. Capri for lunch, a swim off Positano, dinner at anchor with nothing but the lights of the village above you.

Most charters begin in Naples. The city is loud, layered, and full of life. It’s the birthplace of pizza and a proper introduction to southern Italy. Spend a little time here before heading out across the bay, where Capri takes the stage with its mix of glamour and raw beauty.

Early mornings in Capri are something to savor. Watching the sun come up over the Faraglioni rocks, before the day-trippers arrive, feels like you’ve unlocked a different side of the island. Swim through the Blue Grotto when the light hits just right, or take the lift up to Monte Solaro for a view that puts the entire coastline into perspective.

Positano is exactly what you expect…and still better in person. Walk the narrow streets, dip into small boutiques for handmade sandals and local ceramics, then settle into a lunch that somehow turns into the entire afternoon. Ravello offers a quieter option. Here, Villa Cimbrone’s gardens feel almost suspended above the sea. And yes, it’s as magnificent as it sounds.

Along the way, there’s always something just off the main track to consider. Atrani feels untouched and authentic. Ischia brings a slower, more local energy, with natural thermal springs and a more laid-back pace. Sorrento’s cliffs and lemon groves add that unmistakable scent of citrus that seems to follow you everywhere.

If you feel like going further, the coastline opens up. Head south toward the Aeolian Islands or Sicily and the scenery turns wilder. Volcanic landscapes, black sand beaches, and a sense of space that feels completely different from the mainland.

Days can be as active or as easy as you want them to be. Hike the Sentiero degli Dei to Lemon Point and take in the coastline from above, or keep it simple and spend the afternoon in the water; swimming, paddleboarding, or drifting in a quiet bay beneath the cliffs. Cruise through the Faraglioni arches, take a tender ashore to a tucked-away beach, or visit a hillside lemon farm for a private tasting of limoncello made the traditional way.

Food plays its part in all of it. Some nights it’s a Michelin-starred table with a view over the water. Other times, it’s a small, family-run trattoria where the pasta is handmade and the seafood was caught that morning. The ingredients are simple, but everything tastes better here.

There’s a reason this coastline has been drawing people in for decades. It’s romantic without being over the top, lively without feeling overwhelming, and endlessly scenic without ever feeling repetitive.

And the best way to experience it is from the water, where you can take it all in and move freely. Your private charter yacht is your home base to see the Amalfi Coast the way it was meant to be seen.
