Depart Newport for Sag Harbor, The Hamptons’ yachting hub. Lunch on Main Street offers outdoor restaurants and galleries, or drive to East Hampton or Southampton for golf, wine tours and shopping. Visit Montauk Lighthouse, the state’s oldest operating lighthouse, overlooking a seaside cliff. While docked, paddleboard or kayak past waterfront homes, or take an evening cocktail tender cruise around Shelter Island.

At your leisure, head to beautiful Block Island, a family favorite with more than 17 miles of pristine beaches and spectacular bluffs. Anchor at Great Salt Pond and take the tender ashore to explore by bicycle. The island offers something for everyone at a laid-back pace. Be sure to visit The National Hotel, a landmark hotel and restaurant with breathtaking ocean views from its front porch.

Cruise from Block Island to Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard. An elegant port and the Vineyard’s oldest, wealthiest town, Edgartown has long welcomed notable American figures, including past Presidents. Spend the day at South Beach among rolling sand dunes, or try surfing. In the evening, dine ashore at a popular restaurant and enjoy a world-famous clambake of Maine lobster, clams, oysters and local seafood.

Cruise two hours from Martha’s Vineyard to Nantucket, the center of the world’s whaling industry in the early to mid-1800s. Today, summer residents, yachtsmen and visitors fill its cobblestone streets. Visit the Whaling Museum and discover “In the Heart of the Sea,” the true story behind Moby Dick. Go clamming, rent a Jeep for the beach, picnic on boat-access-only shores, visit a brewery or dine near the dock.

After breakfast, stretch your legs and take a final farewell drive down Ocean Drive, taking in the beautiful summer homes built on the rocky edges of the beautiful Newport coast.
