Northrop & Johnson Welcomes Toby MacDonald as Charter Broker in Monaco

Northrop & Johnson is pleased to announce the addition of Toby MacDonald to its team as Charter Broker, based in the company’s Monaco office.

Toby joins Northrop & Johnson with 12 years of experience in the superyacht industry. Having spent the past decade at sea aboard large charter yachts, he brings firsthand insight into what makes an extraordinary charter experience.

Most recently, Toby served as Chief Officer aboard some of the world’s leading charter yachts, working closely with owners, guests, captains, and crew. Through these experiences, he developed a deep understanding of yacht operations, charter programs, and the importance of building strong relationships throughout every stage of the client journey.

In addition to his extensive yachting background, Toby earned degrees in Maritime Business and Yacht Science before completing a Master’s Degree in Law. He also gained professional experience within London-based law firms, strengthening his commercial awareness and ability to navigate complex client needs.

Toby has been driven by a passion for building relationships, understanding different perspectives, and creating positive outcomes. As his responsibilities expanded onboard, he gained a broader perspective on the ownership and charter experience, leading him to pursue a career in brokerage where he could continue supporting clients beyond day-to-day yacht operations.

In his new role, Toby will work closely with an international client base, helping them identify exceptional charter opportunities and navigate the market with confidence. Drawing on his extensive firsthand experience aboard some of the industry’s leading charter yachts, he provides trusted guidance and personalized service throughout every stage of the charter process.
