Northrop & Johnson is pleased to announce the new listing of NORDIC STAR, a 96’ (29m) Lantana built in 1969, now offered for sale with Elizabeth Swain and Graham Rutherford. She is currently located in San Diego, CA, and is asking $1,750,000.
Designed as an economical cruiser and long-range pilothouse motor yacht, NORDIC STAR was custom-built by Lantana Shipyard in Florida with Hargrave naval architecture and interior design. She features a welded aluminum hull and superstructure with a semi-displacement hull form, delivering durability and efficiency in a proven long-range platform. With an approximate 3,000nm range, she is well-suited for extended passage making.
Her current ownership has invested significantly in her upkeep and modernization, including a major 2014/2015 refit and a 2025 full exterior paint job taken down to bare metal, along with fresh varnish, new isinglass on the aft deck, a stainless steel bow shield/anchor guard, hull sounding and inspection, and serviced running gear. The result is a yacht that retains her classic character while benefiting from meaningful technical and cosmetic updates.
Powered by twin Caterpillar D343Ts (460hp each), she cruises at 10 knots, reaches a top speed of 13 knots, and is equipped with Naiad fin stabilizers for comfort underway. A Wesmar 57hp bow thruster (2011) supports confident close-quarters maneuvering, while four helm stations provide exceptional visibility and operational flexibility. Navigation is handled by a comprehensive Furuno electronics suite (newly updated in 2015).
Inside, the yacht reflects the scope of her 2014/2015 interior refit, which introduced new teak joinery, new teak-and-holly soles throughout, and all-new soft goods and upholstery. The main salon is brightened by large panoramic windows and finished in satin teak, with aft lounge seating and a formal dining area forward.
Accommodations include six guests in three staterooms, with space for five crew forward and clear separation between guest and crew areas. On deck, her classic Hargrave pilothouse profile and traditional teak decking are complemented by her recent updates. The aft deck and cockpit feature two distinct seating and dining areas, enclosed with weather-protected isinglass (2025). Wide walk-around side decks lead to a foredeck with built-in seating, dual stainless anchor pockets with rollers, an IDEAL electric windlass, and two galvanized Baldt 300lb anchors. The flybridge with a secondary helm station, seating, and storage offers exceptional exterior living space, while the aft deck swim platform and swim ladder complete the exterior functionality with easy access to the water.
With her robust welded-aluminum construction, Hargrave pedigree, approximately 3,000nm range, extensive 2014/2015 interior refit, and comprehensive 2025 exterior refresh, NORDIC STAR presents a compelling opportunity in the long-range cruising market.
