EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN

History, Culture & Cuisine in Greece

Combine an encounter with ancient history in Athens followed by an epic, island-hopping, off-the-beaten-track cruise through the eastern Cyclades.

Days 1 & 2 – Fly into Athens and head to the art-filled New Hotel Athens, your home base for the next few days. Located a stone’s throw from the Acropolis, the property was designed by the Campana Brothers (the first Brazilian artists to exhibit work at MoMA) who worked with local architecture students to ensure Greek history and culture were woven throughout the property. Devour the food scene of Athens, visiting bakeries and markets, tasting olive oil, honey, and cheese.

Day 3 – Leave the crowds of Athens and cruise to the eastern Cyclades, where the island of Delos recently reopened an archaeological museum devoted to uncovering the site’s rich history as the most sacred place in Ancient Greece. A highlight of the museum are the original lion sculptures from the Terrace of the Lions, originally built around 600 BCE by Naxians in honor of one of the major Greek deities, Apollo.

Day 4 – Continue your Greek odyssey on the island of Naxos. Wander through the narrow streets of Naxos town, discovering its ancient Venetian architecture, and delight in a culinary tour of the quaint tavernas. Visit the iconic Protara – an ancient marble gate standing proudly against the backdrop of the azure Aegean Sea.

Day 5 – Your next adventure awaits on the stunning island of Sifnos. Only accessible by boat, explore the charming villages and beautiful landscape, while taking in the fantastic food scene and fabulous coastline. Take the tender to nearby uninhabited island of Polyaigos for a secluded lunch before heading to nearby Kimolos. Explore the authentic fishing villages and stunning caves to the north of the island before heading back on board for a peaceful night at anchor.

Day 6 – Anchor off the beautiful island of Milos and head inland for an off-road Jeep safari. Follow the dirt paths to the Natural Reserve that lies to the west of the island. Here, volcanic formations and ancient chapels dot the landscape. Swap off-road trails for your yacht’s tender and explore the Kleftiko caves on.

Milos’s southern coast. Take one final dive into the stunning waters, swimming and snorkeling through the spectacular rock formations. Spend your last night on board before heading back to Athens.
