Another Mediterranean summer is drawing to a close, and the season’s charter activity offers an interesting look at where guests wanted to go and what they wanted once they stepped aboard.

Greece led the way in charter starts, while the established hubs of the French Riviera, Croatia and Italy remained in the mix. On the water, there was no single formula behind the season’s most-booked charter yachts. Exceptional crews mattered, and so did flexible accommodations, big outdoor spaces and diverse water-toy collections.

Five yachts in particular stood out across Northrop & Johnson’s charter fleet: RH THREE, MILESTONE, VIKING III, ‘H and ALHAMBRA.

Here’s a closer look at the yachts that were kept busy throughout summer 2026 and at some of the features that continue to make their charter programs work.

Where Did Guests Charter in Summer 2026?

The Mediterranean dominated charter activity in Q2 2026, with some familiar names topping the list of embarkation points.

Athens recorded 417 charter starts, more than twice the number of any other individual pickup location. With thousands of Greek islands spread across the Cyclades, Ionian, Dodecanese, Saronic, Aegean and Sporades island groups, Athens remains a natural gateway to a Greece yacht charter.

The French Riviera was another major center of activity. Monaco ranked second with 183 starts, followed closely by Cannes with 165, while Nice added another 79. All three sit within one of the Mediterranean’s most established charter corridors, giving guests access to ports and destinations including Saint-Tropez, Antibes, Èze, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

Further east, Split recorded 151 starts and Dubrovnik 86, highlighting Croatia’s position among the summer’s busiest cruising grounds. From Split and Dubrovnik, itineraries can take in the islands and anchorages of the Adriatic, including Hvar, Brač, Mljet and Korčula.

Naples recorded 117 starts, while Bodrum recorded 78. The latter remains one of the principal gateways for a Turkey yacht charter, combining Aegean cruising with beaches, ancient sites and the energy of Bodrum itself.

Nassau was the major exception to the Mediterranean trend, recording 150 Q2 charter starts and placing fifth overall.

The Five Most-Booked Charter Yachts of Summer 2026

RH THREE

At 127′ (38.72m), RH THREE takes a different approach to the traditional charter yacht. Built by RMK Marine and extensively reimagined in 2020/21, the expedition yacht carries the design language of luxury interiors brand RH onto the water, with an emphasis on craftsmanship, symmetry and understated materials.

Her accommodation is deliberately limited to just eight guests across four staterooms. The full-beam main-deck master is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, while all three additional guest cabins are together on the upper deck. It creates an intimate setup particularly well suited to smaller groups looking for plenty of space and a high level of service.

Outside, the upper deck has an outdoor gym, while the sky deck is home to RH THREE’s “sunset terrace,” complete with a daybed and teak fire table. A nearly 50′ expedition chase boat adds another dimension to days off the yacht, supported by SeaBobs, paddleboards, kayaks, a WaveRunner, wakeboards, water skis and snorkeling equipment.

This summer, RH THREE’s cruising program covered some of the western Mediterranean’s most established charter grounds, including Monaco, the French and Italian Rivieras, Sardinia, Corsica, Venice and eastern Italy.

MILESTONE

For guests who want to spend as much time in the water as they do on deck, MILESTONE has built a charter program around exactly that. The 146′ (44.5m) Christensen welcomes up to 12 guests in six staterooms, including an oversized master suite and VIP. Her interior combines maple and sycamore joinery with marble and generous social spaces, while the skylounge can move from cinema nights to a dance floor. VIKING III

VIKING III proves that a strong charter program doesn’t need to be complicated. The 114’10” (35.02m) Notika Teknik motor yacht accommodates 10 guests across five double, en-suite staterooms. The main-deck master has a split-level en-suite with a Jacuzzi, while four further guest cabins sit below deck, including two full-beam VIP cabins.

The yacht’s deck spaces are a major part of her appeal. Her sundeck brings together a Jacuzzi, bar, dining for 10 and sun loungers with 360-degree views, while the foredeck provides another dedicated sunbathing area. At water level, a beach club gives guests easy access to the sea.

Jet Ski, SeaBob, paddleboards, wakeboards, water skis and towables keep the days active, but one of VIKING III’s biggest assets is less tangible: an experienced professional charter crew that knows how to make the yacht work for its guests.

‘H

Repeat charter business says a lot about a yacht, and ‘H has built plenty of it. Captain Phil Frost heads a charter program that has developed a strong book of repeat clients. A great crew is a major part of that, but the yacht herself gives them plenty to work with.

Built by Benetti, the 139’9″ (42.6m) ‘H accommodates 10 guests in five staterooms and pairs a sleek exterior with a calm, contemporary interior. Her 900-square-foot main-deck master suite has its own dedicated relaxation room, while the four guest cabins below offer an unusual degree of flexibility: king and twin cabins can connect to create two larger suites.

Outside, a forward Jacuzzi and covered seating area make the bow a genuine guest space rather than somewhere simply passed through. At the other end of the yacht, the beach club creates a chic waterside base for swimming and relaxing. Toys are kept away from the principal guest decks, maintaining the clean, uncluttered look that helps define the yacht’s Zen-like atmosphere.

‘H’s broad summer program included Monaco, the French Riviera, Corsica, the Italian Riviera, Sicily, Malta, the Amalfi Coast, Croatia, Venice and eastern Italy, giving guests access to a significant stretch of both the western and eastern Mediterranean.

ALHAMBRA

Classic Feadship lines, a modern interior and plenty of usable outdoor space made ALHAMBRA another of summer 2026’s busiest charter yachts.

Originally built in 1970, the 116’2″ (35.4m) Feadship has since undergone an extensive refit. Today, her classic canoe stern is balanced by a contemporary interior finished in soft greys and rich walnut, with an open-plan main salon and dining area. She accommodates 10 guests across five staterooms, including two convertible twin/double cabins that add useful flexibility for different charter groups.

Outside is where ALHAMBRA really settles into summer mode. The large sundeck has two lounge areas, a bar, alfresco dining and an outdoor cinema screen. There’s another dining and lounge setup on the main deck aft, while the foredeck is dedicated to sunpads and uninterrupted views. Underway and zero-speed stabilizers help keep things comfortable both while cruising and at anchor.

Her summer cruising grounds extended from Monaco and the French Riviera through Corsica and Sardinia to the Italian Riviera, Amalfi Coast, Sicily, Aeolian Islands and Malta.
