Northrop & Johnson Wraps a Successful MYBA 2025

Posted May 15, 2024 in Charter

The 2025 MYBA Charter Show returned to its roots this year, held in the charming coastal locale of Sanremo, Italy, from April 28th to May 1st. Known as the City of Flowers, Sanremo dazzled with its Riviera charm, bold Ligurian flavors, and that signature Italian warmth. But it was the docks of Portosole that truly came alive with over 1,500 attendees, including 655 brokers, gathering together to celebrate 35 years of the MYBA Charter Show. And what a celebration it was.

Northrop & Johnson showed up in style, with six yachts that brought serious presence: ALFA NERO (269’/82m) by Oceanco, STARFIRE (240’/73m) by Lürssen, AXIOMA (236’/72m) by Dunya Yachts, SARASTAR (197’/60.2m) by Mondomarine, DA VINCI (163’/49.9m) by Overmarine, and RH THREE (127’/38.72m) by RMK Marine.

The energy onboard our yachts was electric. From the morning buzz at the gourmet breakfast aboard DA VINCI to unforgettable lunches served across the fleet, the vibe was relaxed yet refined. SARASTAR stole the show with a lunch that featured shaved truffle, 24-carat gold dust, and caviar.

And then came the competitions.

ALFA NERO took top honors in the hotly contested All Hands on Deck Challenge, wowing judges and peers alike with an ingenious, cross-departmental crew experience designed to entertain guests even when water toys are off the menu.

This MYBA-exclusive contest spotlighted the creativity and cohesion of onboard teams, and ALFA NERO proved exactly why she’s a standout in her class.

STARFIRE, fresh from an awe-inspiring refit, brought more than just a visual wow factor. She took the win in the Tablescaping Competition with a dreamy jade-themed setting. Inspired by MYBA’s 35th anniversary and the symbolic protection of coral reefs, the tablescape was a nod to sustainability, sophistication, and well-being.

Not to be outdone, the Chefs’ Competition brought the heat with a “Wellness on a Plate” challenge. All N&J yachts participated, with chefs crafting nutrient-dense, feel-good brunches that hit the sweet spot between indulgent and healthy. Think superfoods, lean proteins, and zero compromise on taste.

And of course, no MYBA show would be complete without a party to remember. And this year, ALFA NERO delivered just that. In collaboration with AQUAVISTAS and Vins Sans Frontières (VSF), ALFA NERO hosted the show-stopping celebration that had everyone talking.

AQUAVISTAS curated an extraordinary lineup of live entertainment, setting the stage for a night of pure spectacle. Guests were dazzled by a cabaret of acts featuring some of AQUAVISTAS’ most captivating performers: Florian, a masterful variety artist and juggler; Sean, a world-class magician who left the crowd stunned; and the sultry headline burlesque act Jolie Papillon, who brought a touch of forbidden elegance to the evening.

Meanwhile, the VSF team kept the energy flowing with a bar sponsored by a selection of exceptional wines. Guests sipped on crisp Vermentino from Antinori, refreshing Dirupo Prosecco, and the ever-popular Miraval Rosé.

The vibe was unmistakably ALFA NERO: high style, high energy, and just the right dose of mischief. It was a party that brought the whole show together and wrapped up the day with a little bit of magic.

Our Charter Management team showed up in full force, flying in from all corners of the globe to support their yachts, the crew, and this electric industry we all love. As the sun set on Sanremo, the team left feeling inspired and counting the days until MYBA 2026.

Here’s to a successful season ahead.
