Northrop & Johnson hosted its second Crew Masterclass on 22–23 October 2025 in Ventimiglia, at the new port Cala del Forte. Set in a venue with 360° views over the marina, the two-day event brought together 25 Chief and Senior Stews for a programme built around practical skills, real onboard scenarios and professional development.

Crew-Focused Training

Organised in collaboration with MYT Marine, the masterclass combined hands-on training with operational insight, while keeping the focus on what matters most to crew: efficiency, standards, and career progression. Long-standing contributors Joanne and Sharlene Hutchinson joined the sessions, adding an experienced, crew-first perspective throughout the programme.

Day One: Wardrobe Management

The central theme was wardrobe management, with Toscanini joining as guest company. Known for its custom-made hangers and wardrobe equipment and trusted by leading luxury fashion houses, Toscanini led the first day’s training, covering the fundamentals of a “perfect wardrobe” onboard: selecting the right hanger by garment, caring for luxury clothing, stain treatment techniques, and best practices for unpacking guest luggage and organising wardrobes efficiently.

Day Two: Operations, Uniforms and Career Progression

Day two broadened into operations, uniforms and career development. Yuliia Dobrohorska from MYT Marine delivered a session on winterising a yacht, from winter-period work and shutdown procedures to packing and storing items correctly for the next season. Joanne also returned to share practical guidance on winter and shipyard uniforms, including ordering processes, garment care and inventory management, while Ivana led a career-focused session tailored to senior crew, with CV and interview guidance and advice on progressing into more senior roles.

Across both days, the atmosphere matched the setting: focused, collaborative and practical, with excellent food and wine and a strong emphasis on networking, shared experience and peer-learning attendees left with takeaways they could apply immediately onboard.
