My Present
Hello, I’m Carolyn Dobbs, and as a Crew Services Associate at Northrop & Johnson, I take pride in placing the best crew with the best program. My primary responsibility revolves around hiring crew, and ensuring that every program is equipped with the right individuals to excel in their roles. What I cherish most about my job is the opportunity to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and skill sets
Having recently transitioned from Fairport after two years, I bring a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to my role at Northrop & Johnson. What sets me apart in this position is my solution-based approach. I firmly believe in identifying challenges and working collaboratively to overcome them. In my view, success is best achieved when every team member contributes their expertise, fostering a culture of trust and collaboration.
My Past
I am originally from Independence, Missouri (Kansas City), and my journey into the yachting industry was anything but conventional. Despite initially pursuing a career in interior architecture, my passion for sailing led me to embark on a different path. Obtaining my Sailing Bareboat Captain's license opened doors to opportunities, including writing my master's thesis based on my sailing experiences.
For 15 years, I immersed myself in the world of yachting, traversing the globe and honing my skills onboard various vessels. Eventually, my journey led me to a land-based role, where I found my niche in crew recruitment. My tenure at Fairport, where I initially started in Accounts Payable before moving into building the crew recruitment department, provided invaluable experience and insights into the intricacies of crew management.
My Future
Looking ahead, I am committed to addressing the ongoing crew crisis within the industry and spearheading initiatives to bring about meaningful change. As a staunch advocate for mental health awareness, I recently obtained certification in mental health first aid, underscoring my dedication to supporting the well-being of crew members.
My Motto
Travel in the direction of your fear
