Northrop & Johnson Sales Broker Kevin Merrigan was named International Yacht Brokers Association (IYBA) Broker of the Year for 2016.

IYBA (formerly FYBA, Florida Yacht Brokers Association) is the largest association of yacht brokers worldwide with more than 1,200 members. The Broker of the Year award is presented to a sales broker “in recognition for his or her outstanding dedication and contribution to IYBA and the entire yachting industry.” Kevin was recognized with this honor at the annual meeting and dinner, which was held on January 28, 2017 at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

This is the second year in a row that a Northrop & Johnson Sales Broker has won this award. Sales Broker Crom Littlejohn was awarded IBYA Sales Broker of the Year for 2015.

Kevin has been a member of IYBA for 25 years. He was on the board for 10 years, during this time he served as treasurer.

“I am very appreciative and grateful to be named ‘Broker of the Year’ by the International Yacht Brokers Association,” said Kevin. “When I first joined, there were less than 100 members; today, that number is more than 1,200. The IYBA continues to do good deeds for the yachting industry, including setting and enforcing a high standard of ethics, establishing the maximum sales tax in Florida at $18,000, accomplishing the boat show bond and working to minimize the duty issues for foreign flag yachts, not to mention partnership in Yachts Miami Beach. It is a privilege to have grown with this organization and an honor to have been selected as Broker of the Year by my peers.”
