Nicole van Zyl Joins Northrop & Johnson as Crew Services Associate

Northrop & Johnson is pleased to announce the addition of Nicole van Zyl as Crew Services Associate, based in the Fort Lauderdale office. Nicole joins the team with more than eight years of experience in yachting and a strong operational background and firsthand understanding of the industry to her role within N&J’s Crew Services Department.

Having worked aboard yachts ranging from 30 to 100 meters, including leadership positions on large yachts and active charter programs, Nicole offers valuable insight into the realities of onboard operations and the importance of building successful crew dynamics. Her experience working closely with captains, management teams, and crew gives her a well-rounded perspective on the qualities that make programs run smoothly both professionally and personally.

In her role at Northrop & Johnson, Nicole supports yachts, captains, management teams and crew by helping connect the right people with the right programs. Her approach to recruitment focuses not only on experience and qualifications, but also on personality, onboard culture and long-term fit.

Originally from Minnesota, Nicole studied Psychology at the University of Leeds in England before discovering the yachting industry while spending summers in Barcelona. After graduating, she built a successful career at sea, developing extensive experience across both private and charter programs before joining Northrop & Johnson.

Nicole was drawn to Northrop & Johnson for its reputation, global reach and commitment to delivering a high level of service across every area of the business. Looking ahead, she aims to continue growing within crew recruitment while building strong relationships throughout the industry and serving as a trusted resource for captains, clients and crew alike.
