SAILING YACHT COMPADRE NOW FOR SALE

Posted June 1, 2016 in Brokerage & New Build by Janine St.Denis

COMPADRE is a special custom-built yacht by the highly respected Willard Boat Company in Costa Mesa, California. She can accommodate six guests in three spacious cabins. The pilothouse and cockpit comprise an all-weather sailing center with not only inside and outside steering stations, but also a galley, dinette and navigation station in the pilothouse.

COMPADRE was designed by William Lapworth, well known for his famous Cal 40 design. The Lapworth 55 was modeled after the popular Cal Cruising 46, incorporating the same moderate displacement, low-wetted surface, long waterline and balanced spade rudder. For passage making comfort and the optimum trade-off between shoal draft and effective lateral resistance, the Lapworth 55’s keel is relatively long and shallow.

COMPADRE has crossed the Atlantic and Pacific, and has been based in the South Pacific in recent years. She also has cruised extensively in French Polynesia and Hawaii, and now is en route to Southern California to be sold.

COMPADRE is fitted with Harken roller furling units on her moderate-sized headsails; her medium aspect-ratio mainsail also is roller furling. Her decks are wide and clean, and hatches permit direct access from the deck to the engine room and shower. COMPADRE also has port lights throughout, which provide abundant light below.
