ISABEL 72’ (21.64m) Olsen Sailing Yacht for Sale

Posted September 16, 2026 in Brokerage & New Build

Northrop & Johnson is pleased to announce ISABEL, the 2001 72′ (21.64m) Olsen sailing yacht, is now offered for sale with yacht brokers Elizabeth Swain and Hank Halsted. Asking $1,200,000, she will be on display with Northrop & Johnson at the Newport International Boat Show, September 17–20, 2026, in Newport, Rhode Island.

German naval architect Georg Nissen designed ISABEL as a performance cruiser with the visual character of a scaled-down J-Class yacht, drawing particular inspiration from Endeavour. The classic influence is largely above the waterline; her sailing platform incorporates Kevlar and epoxy composite construction, a winged lifting bulb keel and a tall rig. A Hall Spars carbon mast and carbon Park Avenue boom are complemented by powered Andersen winches and hydraulic systems for the headsail furling, vang and backstay, allowing the 72-footer to be sailed with minimal crew.

ISABEL arrives on the market following extensive work completed in 2025. Her Flag Blue topsides were refinished, the bottom was stripped back before being faired and refinished, and the exterior brightwork was restored with eight coats of varnish. The program also brought new North Sails and new running and cockpit rigging, with a new teak deck currently on order.

Her hydraulic keel changes draft from approximately 7’5″ in the raised position to approximately 12’9″ when fully lowered. For maneuvering under power, she combines retractable bow and stern thrusters with a 160-hp Deutz diesel engine and Gori three-blade feathering propeller. A generator, watermaker, Starlink, new Raymarine electronics, radar and autopilot support her cruising setup.

Nissen also designed ISABEL’s interior, where butterfly hatches and deck prisms introduce natural light below deck. The accommodation includes a king-bedded master forward and two guest cabins aft of the salon, with separate two-berth crew quarters accessed from the deck. The main salon incorporates dining for eight to 10, while a large center cockpit with a folding table provides the principal guest space on deck.
