Inside Out 180 (54.9m) Newcaste Superyacht Sovereign

Built by Newcastle in 2011, the 180-foot (54.9m) SOVEREIGN is an American yacht built to rival the quality and capability of yachts FROM pedigreed Northern European shipyards.

SOVEREIGN has benefitted from two very conscientious owners. Her first, the creator and builder of SOVEREIGN, made sure the project included every skillset and opportunity to be successful. An experienced yachtsman, he did extensive research to locate the best designers, surveyors and shipyard to demonstrate American yacht building capabilities. The cost and time of her build were secondary to her quality, which was the top priority. Her second owner pushed even further to create a state-of-the-art yacht. SOVEREIGN also benefits from ongoing, regularly scheduled surveys by Patton Marine, her meticulous and experienced captain, engineer and crew, and an owner who demands, appreciates and funds only the best.

Sovereign Aft Deck

Measuring in at 1,100 gross tons, SOVEREIGN has more volume than many 60-meter yachts. This kind of interior space means more than 8,000 square feet of exceptional living area. The incomparable roominess is most notable in the panoramic skylounge where the vaulted ceiling soars nearly 10 feet high.

SOVEREIGN’s interior features exquisitely detailed woodwork complemented by warm marble surfaces, elevator access to all floors, a very large tender garage that becomes a beach club and gym, and multiple salons. The exterior’s aggressive profile and large deck spaces also are notable; as is the large infinity-edge Jacuzzi/pool on the sundeck.

With a 34-foot beam and 10-foot draft, accompanied by her four-fin Quantum Zero Speed stabilizers, SOVEREIGN provides an exceptionally stable and comfortable ride in almost any ocean. She is ready to explore destinations around the world and will rarely be restricted by weather and sea conditions.

Built according to the rules of the American Bureau of Shipping and MCA compliance of the large yacht commercial code, SOVEREIGN’s design, engineering and equipment is top quality from bow to stern. After launch, SOVEREIGN was recognized as a finalist for Best Displacement Yacht at the 2012 World Superyacht Awards; she also was a finalist in the Naval Architecture category at the ShowBoats Design Awards in 2012.

Designed to carry an owner’s party of up to 16 with six owner and guest staterooms, the accommodations on board are anything but ordinary. SOVEREIGN offers two master staterooms, one on the upper deck with 270-degree views and another full-beam stateroom on the main deck with incredible views through eight large oval windows. Below deck there are four guest staterooms, consisting of two spacious VIP suites with king beds and two guestrooms offering the flexibility of full, twin and Pullman berths. The crew accommodations sleep up to 14 in seven cabins.

Sovereign Foredeck

On the lower deck, in addition to the four guest staterooms, is an oversized beach club/gym/tender garage in the lazarette with access via a transom door. This area has an overhead-mounted davit for tender transfer, room for several tenders and Jet Skis, a main machinery space and additional work areas. It also doubles as a beach club/gym when needed and has lots of room for water and beach toys.

When you enter the yacht’s main aft deck you will find a large seating area with multiple tables and settees, well suited for entertaining groups of varying sizes based on the changeable configuration. Through the main aft doors and past the marbled foyer is an expansive main salon and separate dining area, which conveniently resides next to the main-deck pantry and ship’s galley. The forward part of this deck is home to one of the two master staterooms. Amidships you will find the large open stairwell next to the elevator, which accesses all other interior decks. The elevator does not directly access the sundeck, allowing for a sleeker, more private area. Elevator access is available down to the tank deck for crew.

Superyacht Sovereign Interior

The upper deck has a panoramic skylounge featuring nearly 10 feet of headroom at the center. This salon is double the size of the main salon and serves as the primary social area of the yacht. It features incredible views, a large wet bar, a nearby service pantry and quick access to the upper aft deck. The upper aft deck has a large, circular alfresco dining table for elegant outdoor dining. Aft of the table are several large and private lounges and tables. All the way forward on this deck is the second master stateroom; the captain’s cabin is located nearby the bridge.

The ship’s bridge is one level up in transition to the incredible sundeck, which has inviting spaces for socializing, including bar chairs, a massive elevated forward observation deck with space for sunning, a day head, an outdoor shower, a full-service wet bar, a 46-inch Sunbrite TV and a beautifully tiled, oversized infinity-edge pool/Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi and bar area are protected from the sun by a hard top. There also is a davit on this deck if a commercial MCA tender becomes necessary for future use.
