Northrop & Johnson is delighted to announce the listing of the 123’9” (37.79m) 500+ ton expedition yacht ANNE S. PIERCE, represented by Yacht Broker Whit Kirtland, with an asking price of €3,850,000.
Originally launched in 1982 at the Lunenburg Shipyard in Nova Scotia as a North Atlantic scallop dragger for the Clearwater Fish Company, ANNE S. PIERCE was built for endurance in the harshest sea conditions. She later served as a research and training vessel for Memorial University in Newfoundland before undergoing a complete transformation between 2019 and 2021 at Glovertown Shipyard. The result is a modern, remanufactured expedition yacht designed for global exploration.
With her North American steel hull, 14-foot draft, and displacement reinforced by 350,000 pounds of concrete, ANNE S. PIERCE offers unrivaled stability. During her refit, every system was either replaced with new North American components or fully rebuilt, ensuring straightforward maintenance and reliability anywhere in the world. Practical decisions, such as installing individual mini-split induction heat pumps over a centralized system, further emphasize serviceability for extended operations.
ANNE S. PIERCE accommodates up to 14 guests across five staterooms, with crew accommodations for up to 12. Her interiors balance function and comfort with cherrywood, mahogany, and shiplap finishes. The main salon features a large aft dining and lounge area with Diamond Sea Glaze windows and an authentic wood-burning stove set over a brick and steel fire barrier.
The yacht’s pilothouse salon and flybridge were newly constructed during the refit, featuring reverse-raked glass windows, a navigator’s berth, and a balcony with 360-degree visibility. A second wood stove, cast by the same foundry that forged the hull steel, underscores her unique heritage.
“The Anne S. Pierce is a 500-plus ton ship built to fish the most inhospitable waters on earth. Her owner turned her into a stunning exploration vessel,” says broker Whit Kirtland. “From a failure-proof wood-stove to uncomplicated electronics, she’s built for comfort, reliability and sidling up alongside icebergs.”
