Richard Mille celebrates the ninth edition of Les Voiles de St. Barth with the debut of the RM 60-01 Regatta Flyback Chronograph 2018.
The ninth edition of Les Voiles de Saint Barth ended on Saturday, April 14, after a fierce confrontation between the 53 crews competing in seven classes; and this despite a rather singular context, seven months after the devastating passage of Hurricane Irma. Despite the logistical difficulties, many sailors came to this year’s regatta, showing their solidarity with inhabitants of the island. “We did not necessarily expect such high turnout for this ninth edition, and our satisfaction is the greater for it. We also hope that next year, the celebration honoring the tenth anniversary of Les Voiles will be as unforgettable as this edition was unexpected,” said François Tolède, director of the organization.
Richard Mille, an early partner, has reinforced his support for the event by becoming the title partner of the regatta. In honor of the occasion, the Swiss watchmaker unveils a new version of its technical watch for sailors, the RM 60-01 Regatta Flyback Chronograph.
The RM 60-01 Les Voiles de St. Barth 2018 limited edition is built to serve as a comfortable, stylish and effective tool at sea. The RMAC2 automatic caliber in grade five titanium powers the 50-mm titanium watch, driving such functions as the complete flyback chronograph, annual calendar with oversize date, running seconds and UTC function. As a safety precaution, the chronograph pushers have a special quick-locking and releasing mechanism activated by a turn of the secondary crown, which prevents accidental changes of the chronograph readout.
hanks to its bi-directional rotating bezel with indications of the four cardinal points combined with a graduated 360-degree and 24-hour scale disk, the RM 60-01 adds navigational capabilities. Once the user knows the local time and position of the sun, the RM 60-01 can determine the current location. To operate, direct the UTC indicator toward the sun by using the pusher located at nine o’clock. Then turn the bezel to align the UTC hand with the actual local time engraved on the bezel’s circumference. When set in this manner, the compass headings North, South, East and West on the bezel will correctly align with the actual direction on the Earth’s surface. With its flange, indicators and rubber strap in highly visible yellow, and the logo of Les Voiles de St. Barth displayed on the sapphire caseback, the newest version of the RM 60-01 is regatta-ready. The 50-piece limited edition is available exclusively at Richard Mille boutiques throughout the Americas.
The tenth edition of Les Voiles de Saint Barth with partner Richard Mille will be held April 14 to 20, 2019.
