SCIBS represented the first Australian show for the international brokerage since it’s move into the Australian market in February 2016. Prior to the show, the Northrop & Johnson Australia team was confident about the Australian market’s ability to support a strong superyacht presence; the exceptional level of interest that brokers encountered now has reinforced that theory.

“Australia has a rich maritime culture with a burgeoning superyacht industry, which Northrop & Johnson see as a great opportunity to raise the bar and continue positive growth,” said Cameron Bray, managing director of Northrop & Johnson Australia.

Northrop & Johnson Australia showed the two largest charter yachts ever to grace the waters of SCIBS; these yachts were 120-foot (36.6m) SAHANA and the 110-foot (33.5m) CORROBOREE. Both yachts now are available for charter in the Whitsundays.

In addition to two charter yachts, Northrop & Johnson Australia also had on display the 73-foot (22.3m) CRESTA 70 motor yacht, which is actively for sale.

“We’ve seen very positive growth in the Australian charter industry in recent years, which is now reflected by an increase in enquiries for buyers looking to have their own yachts run as commercial entities,” said Bray. “Feedback during the show was fantastic, with show organizers and show goers alike telling us how excited they were to see the Northrop & Johnson Australia stand, which was spread across an entire pier thanks to a Waterscape platform that provided an escape from the bustle of the show. Northrop & Johnson’s superyacht world was a display unlike any an Australian show had hosted before.”

Throughout the course of the show, Northrop & Johnson Australia welcomed clients and guests to the Waterscape stand and on board its yachts for cocktail events, all of which were extremely well received.

Northrop & Johnson Australia will be in attendance at the Sydney International Boat Show, as well as the Monaco Yacht Show, Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and Antigua Charter Show.
