The cool coastal breezes of Newport, Rhode Island, welcomed guests to the inaugural 2019 Audrain’s Newport Motor Week and Concours, October 1 through 4. Held across a variety of exceptional properties in town, including the International Tennis Hall of Fame, where the event’s Concours village welcomed patrons to view cars and mix and mingle with sponsors — including luxury yachting partner Northrop & Johnson, Doris Duke’s Rough Point mansion, The Audrain Museum, Forty One North Marina, The Breakers mansion and a variety of other exclusive locations, the event was filled with enough new and classic luxury automobiles to make any motorhead’s heart sing with delight.
The first day of the event began with the Wines by the Water wine tasting at Forty One North Marina where Northrop & Johnson’s luxury superyacht ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM and motor yacht CHANSON II welcomed wine tasters aboard to explore the world of luxury yachting as the sipped from the United States, Europe, South America and Australia all curated by the wine experts at WineAdvise. Later in the evening, the VIP welcome dinner at Ochre Court set the tone for a fabulous weekend ahead.
On Friday, October 2, Rough Point opened its lawn to an incredible display of luxury automobiles set in front of an incredible oceanside backdrop. Northrop & Johnson was on hand with a luxury display to welcome guests. Other highlights of the event included a celebrity cooking demonstration by Chef Ben Robinson of Below Deck fame, a secret rose garden courtesy of Whispering Angel, fireside picnics set in front of the cliffside, gourmet food offerings from local favorites, such as Pasta Beach, and so much more. Friday evening international superstar John Legend performed at the Tennis Hall of Fame following a VIP party for concert attendees.
Saturday morning came early for Northrop & Johnson as we welcomed some Audrain VIPs aboard motor yacht CHANSON II for a harbor cruise to the Cars & Coffee event at Fort Adams State Park. Later in the day event attendees visited various seminars as well as the Porsche Concours d’Elegance. The highlight of Saturday’s festivities was the exceptional Audrain Automobile Museum Annual Gala featuring Jay Leno, Donald Osborne and special musical guest Kenny Loggins. This event was held at the stunning Breakers mansion.
On Sunday all eyes focused once again on The Breakers mansion as the official Concours d’Elegance was underway. The stunning mansion’s lawn was brimming with luxury automobiles awaiting judging. It was the absolute perfect way to end this exceptional luxury event.
Northrop & Johnson was so delighted to be the event’s luxury yachting partner and already is making arrangements to enhance our participation in next year’s event. We hope to see you there.
