A Day in the Life Aboard PALOMA

Posted September 15, 2025 in Charter

To share the charter experience of PALOMA in its most authentic form, David Seal and the Captain of PALOMA invited three local artists — Toby Wright, a classically trained portrait painter specializing in realism, Léo Pansard, a versatile abstract artist, and Liudmila Sun, an impressionist landscape artist who works in soft pastels — to spend a day aboard. Their goal was to immerse themselves in the charter experience and channel the yacht’s inspiring atmosphere into their own work.

Measuring 137′ 9″ (42m) and built in 2020 by Ferretti Yachts, PALOMA accommodates 11 guests in five cabins with the support of eight dedicated crew members.

Upon arrival, the artists were greeted by the crew with drinks and a warm welcome before Captain Alexander personally led them on a tour. PALOMA immediately impressed with her spacious sundeck, where a striking Sophia Vari sculpture graces the bar. On the upper deck, the sense of space is commanding, while the aft deck’s massive dining table hints at evenings filled with laughter and conversation. In the skylounge, a painting once belonging to the Queen of Spain drew admiration. “It has an interesting backstory, but you’d have to charter the yacht to hear it from the crew,” David recalls.

On the main deck aft, transom bar stools offer guests an unobstructed view of the horizon. Inside, PALOMA unfolded as an art lover’s paradise: shelves lined with fascinating books, captivating sculptures, original sketches, and even a coffee table that sparked conversation. To either side of the main salon, fold-down balconies opened onto the water’s edge, creating peaceful spots to pause and reflect.

“PALOMA means dove in Latin, a symbol of peace. And this is one peaceful yacht,” David reflected, perfectly capturing her spirit.

The artists were shown to the owner’s stateroom, where they admired the incredible work of Fernando Botero. Expansive windows revealed breathtaking seascapes, a feature repeated throughout every stateroom thanks to Custom Line Ferretti Group’s signature landscape hull design. As David observed, “There isn’t a bad view anywhere onboard.”

The chef crafted a light yet elegant lunch of courgette salad with Parmesan and sun-dried tomatoes, followed by dill salmon fillet and a lemon crème brûlée. Around the table, the artists shared stories and experiences, capturing the very essence of a true charter: connection, conversation, and delight.

That afternoon, the artists took inspiration from the idyllic setting anchored alongside the coastline. Each created works in their own distinct style, realism, abstraction, and impressionism, offering unique interpretations of PALOMA’s atmosphere. Their creativity became part of the yacht’s story, reflecting the harmony of life onboard.

As the sun dipped toward the horizon, the group changed for dinner. Once again, the chef presented an extraordinary menu, showcasing PALOMA’s dedication to fine dining. The evening flowed with conversation, laughter, and inspiration. Her charter experience is defined by peace, inspiration, and sophistication. PALOMA is not for high-octane nights of parties or adrenaline-driven water sports; she is for connoisseurs of art, fine dining, and refined living.
