In Focus — Yacht for Sale ALTAVITA
In 2018, Garth and Leni Mathews took ownership of the stunning 125-foot (38.1m) Gulf Craft motor yacht ALTAVITA. The family played a large role in the build and design of the yacht. “Creating such a spectacular yacht of her size and sharing that experience together was challenging and fun,” they said. “Together, we made our dream come true and we are extremely proud of the result.” From her uncluttered spaces to her beautiful design and generously proportioned living areas, ALTAVITA is the perfect family yacht.
ALTAVITA is not the Mathews’ first foray into the yachting world. “We enjoyed adventures in Australian waters as our kids were growing up,” they say. As a busy family, the freedom offered by boats and yachts is what has always attracted them to yachting. “We’re able to board our boat at the end of a busy week, drop the ropes and cruise away from all the stresses of everyday life.” The family has owned a multitude of yachts throughout the years, ranging in size, style and builder and ALTAVITA is the latest addition to their yachting repertoire.
“The 125 series offered sumptuous accommodation in all four guest cabins all with double wardrobing. Additionally, each has its own en-suite,” the Mathews mention. They also enjoy the layouts of the salon, skylounge and alfresco deck spaces, which allowed them the freedom to make the yacht their own. “We are particularly happy with the skylounge outdoor dining and lounge area where up to 12 guests can dine and lounge in abundant comfort and space,” they said. “The design and quality of her build is second to none.”
Before 2020, the Mathews spent quite a lot of time aboard ALTAVITA, traveling to Europe, where the boat currently is located. “We were able to visit many beautiful places,” they mention. During these incredible holidays, the family would rise early to get a start on an exceptional day at sea or on the dock. “If we were docked at a marina, we would head out for an early morning walk around the local village and seek out the local markets for some fresh produce.” While the family explored, the deck crew would be busy setting up the water toys for use upon their return. “If we are at anchor, which we love the most, we go for an early morning paddleboard then sit down to our favorite breakfast prepared by our amazing chef. We then would cruise along to our next destination or stay at anchor for a few days where we would relax with our family and friends. Quite often we would head to a secluded beach for a picnic and a game of cricket. In the evening, the crew would light up the yacht with candles for dinner parties with our friends.”
The Mathews family loves cruising the Italian coastline, making their way from Sicily to the Aeolian Islands and up to the Amalfi coast. “We have tried every single gelato shop in Sorrento, and have visited the amazing Blue Grotto and the Isle of Capri,” they say. “We also love Positano, Portofino, Ponza…the list goes on. We love everywhere we have been in Italy.” The Mathews also enjoy the Balearics with their beautiful beaches, ancient towns and fabulous restaurants. “The water is crystal clear there and the sunsets are to-die-for. The laid-back pace of each town is very refreshing, and the locals are welcoming and always happy to help us with any recommendations.”
The Mathews family does charter out ALTAVITA. “We live in Australia and when we are not using the yacht, we charter her out to offer people their own relaxation and the same freedom we love. We have many repeat clients who come back time and time again – a testament to the wonderful crew and of course to ALTAVITA.”
