BAKRI CONO’S PMG MARINE COMPLEX TO OPEN MAY 30, 2015

Bakri Cono signed an exclusive agreement with Northrop & Johnson Asia to market and develop sales for its Power Catamarans in November 2014. Since then, the yard has experience an increased demand for larger power cats, which incorporate environmentally friendly boating and fuel-saving technology, causing the shipyard to move to larger premises.

The yard was rigorously renovated, improved and extended, now offering six production units, ranging between 1200 and 1250 square meters. All units have individual water and power supplies, office space, bathrooms, storage facilities and direct access to the sea.

The shipyard is under European management. Three of the production units comply with German Lloyd Standards, allowing yachts to be built “In Class.” There are several in-house workshops, including an upholstery facility. Conference rooms, separate air-conditioned storage for chemical products and administrative facilities are available.

A beach area in front of the yard measures more than 4,000 square meters and a wide launching ramp provides direct, easy access to the sea.

A fresh water basin is located on site to conduct 95% of the regular sea trial and water proofing tests (for yachts up to 80 feet — this basin allows for testing without introducing salt water and mud to the newly constructed yachts.

The shipyard also boasts a strong environmental commitment. Rainwater is collected, filtered and recycled for use in the shipyard. Soon, solar energy will be used for part of the daily power needs.

Looks matter and — quite unusual for most shipyards — the grounds are immaculate. Trees and a flourishing garden surround the yard. The site also is well protected; it is gated and has 24 hours security.

Bakri Cono’s HELIOTROPE 65, the world’ first solar-assisted luxury yacht, will be on display with Northrop & Johnson at the Singapore Yacht Show from April 23 to 26 for viewing.
