Northrop & Johnson Crew Services recently hosted an exclusive two-day New-Build Interior Outfitting Masterclass in Antibes, France, uniting top industry talent and trusted suppliers. Held in partnership with Italian luxury linen brand Lintea Mare, the event explored the intricacies of outfitting a new-build yacht—from initial planning to flawless final touches.
Tailored for Chief Stewardesses and those aspiring to the role, the Masterclass offered both inspiration and practical insight. It celebrated collaboration and the pursuit of excellence in luxury yachting. Highlights included guidance on setting up a yacht from the ground up, best practices for working with luxury suppliers, tips for effective ordering, and valuable networking opportunities.
Day One: Foundation & Expertise
The day began with coffee, pastries, and conversation, followed by presentations covering the essentials of interior setup—from inventory lists to luxury linens.
Julia from Lintea Mare shared her expertise on bed styling, cutlery organization, and fabric selections. Attendees also met suppliers from All Around the Yacht, STILLA Flowers, and Sharleen Hutchinson’s line of onboard toiletries.
Lunch provided a relaxed setting for attendees to connect, share insights, and build relationships.
Day Two: From Theory to Practice
The group kicked off the morning at a local bakery before heading aboard a Fairport-managed superyacht to apply what they’d learned. On the aft deck, Chief Stews gathered for a candid roundtable discussion, exchanging experiences and ideas.
Inside, participants engaged in live product demos and hands-on sessions, including bed-making techniques with luxury linens.
Women Supporting Women
What made this Masterclass especially powerful was its foundation in shared experience. Every presenting company was founded by or employs ex-yacht crew, offering real insight into onboard life.
Ivana from N&J Crew Services and Julia of Lintea Mare once worked together as stewardesses. Sharleen, now a supplier, once supported Ivana while she was still at sea. Their collaboration is a testament to enduring relationships and the belief that women supporting women elevates the entire industry.
For the Future of Yachting
At Northrop & Johnson, we proudly support crew at every stage—from green crew taking their first steps to Chief Stews managing new builds and those transitioning to land.
This Masterclass was more than a learning opportunity—it was about legacy. Industry veterans shared their knowledge to raise standards and inspire the next generation.
