2016 FLIBS WRAP UP

With 26 yachts in the show for sale, charter or both, Northrop & Johnson was busy. The stand and lounge, located on the Face Dock just north of the swing bridge, was bustling throughout the show. Clients visited to see yachts and were delighted by our Strategic Partners who were located at the stand for the duration of the five-day event. Aston Martin’s striking white V12 Vantage garnered a great deal of attention. Arnold & Son watches glistened and glittered in the Florida sunshine, beckoning clients and guests alike; Lufthansa entertained guests with the virtual experience of its First Class seating; Mondomarine and Tankoa yacht models were on display and staff were available to discuss build options; Chai Rum tickled the taste buds of all who passed through, leaving them wanting more of the delicious spirit; Chateau d’Esclans flowed as guests chose rosé all day to take the edge off the heat; some sipped Casillero del Diablo with its South American flavor; Marsh Insurance, 321 At Waters Edge and Wells Fargo associates also welcomed guests and clients alike.

Mondomarine unveiled its newest project, the M42 Atlas on Friday morning to the delight of many members of the press in attendance. This exciting new design is the brainchild of Mondomarine and the award-winning design firm of Gregory Marshall, who was in attendance to speak about the project. Listed for sale with Northrop & Johnson sales broker Philip Bell, the yacht will be listed at €24,500,000. More information can be found on Northrop & Johnson’s website.

On Friday evening, Northrop & Johnson hosted clients, guests and friends at its annual ’49 Elite event. A variety of yachts were open for viewings while Brendan O’Hara kept the beat. Chai Rum’s specialty Chai Rum cocktails were a favorite libation throughout the evening; other quests enjoyed the delightful rosé from Chateau d’Esclans or Casilleo del Diablo wines. All Northrop & Johnson partners were on hand. Guests also were delighted by the exciting tricks of Magic Jack Maxwell, a superb local magician.

On Saturday, Northrop & Johnson welcomed Kids in Distress (KID), a local charity dedicated to the prevention of child abuse, preservation of family and the care and treatment of abused children in Broward and Palm Beach counties, to take over its stand for the annual Boys ‘N’ Toys Auction and yacht hop. Once again, a variety of Northrop & Johnson yachts were open for viewing while guests perused the exceptional auction items up for grabs. While the canapes were passed and drinks were poured, participants put in their bids on silent auction items, including paintings from Mario Ruschel Burgoa, an African Adventure Company Customized Safari, a weekend stay at Ocean Reef Club and a round of gold, a four-day, three-night stay at Atlantic and an Estate Jewelry 22-karat gold cuff, among other items. The rousing live auction offered up prizes such as tickets to see Billy Joel on New Year’s Eve, an Arnold & Son watch, an Abellan New York ring and cruises on board the 154-foot (46.9m) delta luxury motor yacht USHER. Although the numbers are still being tallied, the current amount raised for KID is $135,000…and climbing. If you’d like to donate to this noble cause, please click here.
