VANGUARD is a 2023 Naval Yachts XPM 78 expedition platform engineered for extended self-sufficient long range cruising. Built with a focus on efficiency and system redundancy, she has already logged over 9,000 nautical miles since launch, including her most recent transit thst took vanguard as far north as Greenland.
Propulsion is delivered through a diesel-electric Praxis hybrid system, integrated with energy management software to control fuel consumption and optimize power distribution. At cruising speed Vanguard has an impressive fuel burn of 3.5L/NM that delivers a transoceanic range in excess of 7,000 nautical miles. For station keeping and precision control, she is equipped with a commercial-grade dynamic positioning system. The hull is ice-reinforced and stabilization is provided by a DMS Magnus Master system, enhancing ride quality in offshore conditions.
VANGUARD’s interior layout, designed and outfitted by Arista Marine, follows a functional open-plan design with direct sightlines from helm to aft salon. The main deck includes a galley positioned port aft with U-shaped configuration, featuring dark gloss cabinetry. The salon comprises an L-shaped settee, convertible dining/coffee table, and freestanding seating. The helm station forward is fitted with twin high-back chairs, a wide multi-display dash, and expansive windscreen visibility. Interior finishes use pale timbers with dark contrast elements.
Accommodations support up to eight guests, with six in three en-suite staterooms and an optional convertible salon berth for two additional. The full-beam owner’s stateroom features a centered king berth, integrated settee, and an en-suite with glass-enclosed shower. VIP cabin includes a centerline double with sofa. The third guest stateroom offers fixed twin bunks and sofa seating. Crew quarters accommodate two.
Her exterior deck configuration is optimized for equipment handling and practical utility. The main deck aft supports tender deployment via integrated crane, with L-shaped guest seating forward. The flybridge helm supports seating for two . Aft access is provided via dual stairways to the swim platform and the tender is stowed on the main deck aft.
VANGUARD is currently completing her Greenland expedition with two onboard ice pilots, actively validating her cold-water engineering, autonomy systems and ice reinforced hull. Upon return to Fort Lauderdale fall 2025, she will be available for inspection.
Notable features include: diesel-electric hybrid propulsion, ice-rated hull, commercial dynamic positioning, advanced stabilization, and a fully custom interior. She offers a rare combination of mechanical sophistication and proven offshore mileage within a sub-24-meter footprint.
