With her billowing clouds of white sails and elegant lines, the 210-foot (64 m) RUNNING ON WAVES evokes the bygone era of the Tall Ships and romance of the seas. With room for up to 42 guests in 18 cabins, RUNNING ON WAVES is perfect for a special occasion, extended family, or a large group of friends looking for a stylish wind-powered adventure in the Mediterranean.
Launched by Gdansk shipyard in 2011 with naval architecture by celebrated designer Ziegmund Choren, RUNNING ON WAVES has all the hallmarks of a traditional barquentine-rigged clipper, but with one major difference. A patented ballast system means that RUNNING ON WAVES has a relatively shallow draft of just 10.2-feet (3.2m) allowing her to access the hidden coves and smaller, remote islands of her cruising grounds. Her latest 2020 refit, along with annual winter maintenance and refurbishment, has ensured RUNNING ON WAVES is as beautiful as she is reliable inside and out.
Another unique design feature is her generous deck space with ample room for relaxing and entertaining. Her sundeck is expansive with lounge chairs for 16 and a large Jacuzzi for cooling dips. An observation deck can be found in the fore of the ship, above the bowsprit, creating the feeling of flying over the water. Additionally, her stern can be opened up and lowered into the water to create a large swimming or diving platform from which to enjoy her array of watersports toys.
The charismatic Harris Poulis interiors take their inspiration from much older classic sailing yachts. Rich in natural materials such as teak, leather and mahogany, Art Deco detailing features throughout creating a comfortable and luxurious ambience. The main salon seats 42 for dinner, but can also be used for meetings, entertainment and corporate events.
The 18 staterooms have all the amenities you would expect in a five-star luxury hotel room with various levels providing flexibility to suit a variety of charter groups. The larger cabins and mini-suites can be found on the main deck, while the more standard accommodations are on the tween deck. Each one is intricately decorated with mosaics and boasts marble-clad en-suite bathrooms.
RUNNING ON WAVES is a stunning, state-of-the-art sailing ship capable of reaching speeds of 16 knots under sail in the right conditions. She also has a modern and reliable Volvo Penta D16 MH, 650hp engine with a cruising speed of 8.5 knots and a top speed of 10 knots. A sophisticated stabilization system ensures ultimate comfort whatever the conditions.
