Wild Horses was the first W-Class W.76 launched in June of the 1998. She was designed by the late Joel White and built at the Brooklin Boat Yard in Maine. She has long, graceful and elegant overhangs, low freeboard and a subtle sheer that is higher at the bow then the stern. She's truly a magnificent classic style sloop in appearance, yet, she's outfitted with modern and state of the art cold molded hull, systems, electrical and rigging.

She comes equipped with carbon fiber spars/rod standing rigging, 3Di North Sails, sports a lead ballast bulb style fin keel and a spade rudder construction. She has a pair of two-speed coffee-grinder winch pedestals on center line ahead of the steering wheel which can be linked together and clutched to one of the four single, coaming-mounted winch drums for maximized man power to trim highly loaded sails.

"The W.76s, were a kind of a synthesis of some of the late 12-Meters and the Herreshoff designed-and-built New York 50,” says current owner, Donald Tofias, "like a cross between the two time America's Cup winner, Intrepid and the Herreshoff designed New York 50 Spartan."

Truly built for speed and beauty, she has proven that her design sails just as fast as it is beautiful to lay eyes upon. Time after time, she succeeds racing in the 'Spirit of Tradition' class, an internationally known class which combines classic style with modern speed. She has taken the win at countless classic yacht regattas such as the Panerai Classic Yacht series' internationally, Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, Saint Barths Bucket Regatta in the Caribbean, Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez/D'Antibes in France, Argentario Sailing Week in Tuscany, Italy, and many more. In the past 20 years she has secured victories and participated in hundreds races around the world.

Wild Horses is a legend in the prime of her racing career and she is meticulously maintained by her current owner/full-time crew. She would be suitable for cruising as well.

The W-Class was founded by commercial real estate broker, Donald Tofias, who combined his enthusiasm for sailing and classic yachts with his business experience to create a new class of racing boats. The first design was the W.76 with two boats launched in 1998, Wild Horses and her sister ship White Wings. The W-Class also designed the W-46, the W-37, and the W-22.
