The 78-foot (23.77m) Marlow VK is a very attractive, user-friendly and economical raised pilothouse motor yacht. Previously offered as BLUE HERON, VK has been beautifully and meticulously upgraded without regard to cost. She was originally launched in 2005 but was last refitted in 2020. The yacht’s original-build owner used her for two years in the Med before taking the yacht to Florida for interior and exterior refits. She was then purchased by her current owner who realized the potential of VK and restored her to like-new condition.
VK is a member of the Marlow 78E series with all the desired Marlow options. She features a modified V-hull and hardtop outfitted in teak over fiberglass materials utilizing modern techniques and technology to provide the yacht with a superior level of strength but a reduced weight. VK has a 20-foot (6.20m) beam and a draft of five feet (1.55m). The yacht offers an impressive level of performance. She is able to reach a maximum speed of 26 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots. The build materials and performance of the yacht also contribute to an increased range and a reduced need for fuel, which is a benefit to eco-conscious owners.
VK’s interior spaces are open and welcoming. The main deck features a salon and dining area where guests can relax and unwind. The space features a built-in wrap-around settee and a 46-inch retractable HD TV with surround sound. A half-wall divides the salon and the dining space, which is outfitted with a full wet bar and a built-in wine cooler with abundant storage and glassware.
The yacht’s galley is well equipped for creating exceptional meals at sea. It has black granite counters and a very functional workspace. The yacht’s pilothouse is found forward of the galley.
Four staterooms provide accommodations to seven guests aboard VK. These staterooms include a full-beam master located forward on the lower deck, a VIP stateroom and two additional guest cabins. The yacht also has crew accommodations for two.
The exterior spaces of VK are well suited for enjoying life on the water. The main deck aft has a built-in settee for alfresco dining. The upper deck features a helm station as well as mirrored built-in tables with built-in seating and chairs. This space is covered by the hardtop and is usable in all conditions. Further aft is a lounge area with chairs and tender storage with a davit.
VK was delivered to her original build owner via ship and lightly cruised in the Mediterranean for two years and then brought to Florida for interior and exterior styling refits. With the vessel located at the Marlow USA Yacht Yard in Snead Island, Florida her second owner saw the opportunity to make her like new adding beautiful changes and upgrades. General
VK is constructed from the most modern materials and techniques providing more strength with less weight than possible with conventional technology. The use of Kevlar modified epoxy resin And high-density core materials allows the Marlow Explorer to be stronger than the heaviest of hulls at a fraction of the weight. The use of a modern resin-infused vacuum-assisted transfer is made on every counter, cabinet, and sole in the yacht.
The result is a yacht that cruises at 20+ knots when conventionally constructed yachts would only achieve 17 knots with similar power. Even if speed is not a driving factor for some, the increased range and reduced fuel costs will be of great benefit.
