Configuration:
DARK SHADOW's design is absolutely stunning with a flush deck that is almost completely free of the multitude of sheets, halyards, blocks etc found on most sail boats. On this yacht the majority of that gear runs below the deck.
The twin helm pedestals are positioned aft and provide an excellent vantage point whether cruising or racing. Just aft of the helm are two large deck hatches through which the lazarette is accessed. An transom door also provides lazarette access whilst acting as a bathing platform and allowing the tender to be launched and recovered.
Ahead of the helm is a centre cockpit with comfortable seating for 10 to port and starboard around two tables separated by the centreline walkway to the companionway leading below deck. Forward of the companionway is a very spacious cushioned sunbathing and lounging area.
Towards the bow is a large deck hatch providing access to a voluminous forepeak with plenty of space for all that needs to be there.
Winches & Blocks:
4 x Lewmar 111 winches at the cockpit (2 electric & 2 hydraulic)
2 x Lewmar 88 winches at the mast (1 electric & 1 hydraulic)
2 x Lewmar 64 winches in the mooring locker (both electric)
Harken blocks all round
Dodgers etc:
A dodger and bimini erects around the front of the companionway hatch and covers the centre cockpit. When not in use this becomes invisible when stowed away into the coaming around the cockpit and is completely concealed
There is also a vast boom tent that reaches from the mast to aft of the centre cockpit
Additional:
In the yacht's container there is a significant amount of additional harken blocks, sheets, etc for use when racing.
All cleats are of the pop up variety that stow flush with the deck when not in use.
