The 132-foot (40.28m) Royal Huisman sailing yacht ANAKENA is breathtaking. Built for an experienced owner, who also is a sailing enthusiast, the premise behind ANAKENA was to perfectly marry a land-based lifestyle with an on-water experience. As such, the yacht can carry a great number of books as well as wines. The yacht also features an exemplary level of security and the highest possible level of safety, courtesy of her builder. In order to ensure this, the yacht has a high degree of redundancy, allowing her to cruise off the grid for quite a long time. Outfitted with a reinforced bow, ANAKENA is able to travel virtually anywhere in the world. ANAKENA is no stranger to the winner’s circle, having taken home both “Best Sailing Yacht” from the ShowBoats awards and International Super Yacht Award for “Best Sailing Yacht over 36 Meter.” ANAKENA has been through various refits during her life, including a 2006 refit in Pendennis.
The yacht’s interior and exterior spaces are welcoming and beautiful, featuring traditional style. Entering from the cockpit, guests will find a large high table seating eight to port. To starboard, another high table seats six. A large L-shaped leather sofa also is found here. This space is highlighted by large windows throughout. This space also has a full bar where guests can enjoy a cocktail. Forward of the deck salon is the yacht’s piloting. From the deck salon, guests will enter the salon where books line the stunning beautiful teak walls, which are perfected with delicate details. The library theme is truly remarkable.
ANAKENA sleeps from six to 10 guests in three staterooms. The yacht’s full-beam master is found aft. It features two double beds and a his-and-hers en-suite bathroom. Further forward, ANAKENA features twin-bed staterooms, each with two Pullmans, en-suite bathrooms in lovely Onyx. In the forward part of ANAKENA, there is space for six crewmembers in three staterooms, separated from the owners and guests by the salon. This is where we find the engine room access, companionway to the deck and great galley to take care of all on board. All staterooms are equally fine detailed, and, in all bathrooms, soft-colored Onyx is used.
The exterior spaces are impressive. The cockpit aft of the pilothouse is ideally suited for enjoying alfresco dining. Behind the owners’ cabin, we find a private cockpit area with Bimini. Unobstructed views of the sea and total calm makes this no doubt a unique feature on a sailing yacht. This space is exclusive and inviting to have a drink under the stars and breakfast away from the action.

Deck salon
We enter the deck salon from the cockpit by stepping two steps down. We see immediately the large windows on either side, daylight being one of the key-points on the list of comfort.
On the port side we have a large high table, seating 8. Due to the centre line bench. On starboard we notice another high table seating some 6 people, with the L shaped leather covered sofa.
This light flooded luxurious deck salon offers a drinks fridge, ice cube machine, wet bar, and glass cabinet.
The forward part of the deck salon is exclusively laid out for piloting the yacht. Joystick steering is possible and starboard and port show practically the same nav equipment. There are hidden partition walls that can separate the pilot house from the lounge / dinging area when required.
Going down to the salon we are immediately struck by the theme of the yacht, beautifully crafted classic teak wood interior with perfect detailing. Hundreds of books line both sides of the wonderful salon that breaths a serene peace and the highest of quality in yacht carpentry ever seen worldwide. There are some 2000 books onboard and should an interested party like to know if the “Library Theme” can be reduced, indeed and this would not be too elaborate in my opinion.
There are numerous wonderfully crafted artifacts on board, from the tiny carved royal crowns in various places throughout the boat to table tops that can be turned to double as gameboard or coffee table with trim. The port side of the yacht features a very comfortable lower seating arrangement where, on starboard we see a large dinging table that slides out electrically inboard so that the people who are seated on the inside can comfortably leave the table.
Exterior light comes through portholes in the coamings and prisms.
Forward of the salon we enter the yacht’s crew area. From here forward we have the galley over port, pantry over starboard and the crew companionway to the deck in between. A good size crew dinette and three cabins, each with ensuite shower rooms. The engine room entrance is in this same area.
Aft of the salon we find the luxurious undisturbed owners and guest areas.
On port and starboard ANAKENA offers twin bedded cabins, each with 2 Pullmans. Adjacent to the salon, each cabin has its own ensuite bathroom. All bathrooms have stall showers. Onyx is the stone used in all bathrooms throughout the yacht.
The full beam master cabin is located at the stern of ANAKENA, featuring two double beds and real openable port holes at pillow level as well as a repeater station (wind, speed, etc) located on starboard.
A desk on the forward bulkhead and plenty of hanging and drawer cupboard space completing this phenomenal owners’ cabin that also has his & hers ensuite bathrooms which are located a few steps up from the owners’ cabin going aft where a hall gives access to these bathrooms. Starboard has a stall shower, towel dryer, ac connection and all again in beautiful soft tinted Onyx while the other offers the same features, yet with a bathtub with jets and again made in the same soft coloured onyx.
The owners’ cockpit at the stern of the yacht is recessed which add to the safety and comfort. This private cockpit offers two tables that can be opened. The aft coaming hides the bimini and the dodger covers the owners’ companionway.
ANAKENA is a statement. Words like high quality are not quite enough to describe the amazing love for craftsmanship that this yacht and her Dutch Royal Shipyard represent. These superlatives go for all stages of the build of this super yacht. The crew that has worked on the yacht in the past are well impressed with the quality and some of these people worked here for over 10 years and maintained her, so a lot of knowledge is available. There is a large ships’ library where all manuals are stored, and her 26 years of maintenance are well documented. There are numerous details that I can mention, and it is better that you come and see them. ANAKENA speaks for herself.

ANAKENA was built for a very experienced sailing yacht owner who wanted to fuse the on-land living experience with the on the water lifestyle. A very large number of books can be stored on board as well as good wines. Safety and security wise this was Royal Huisman’s highest-level achievement at the time.
The enormous level of redundancy and large tanks as well as ample fridge space guarantees the opportunity to be autonomous for a very long time. The Architect had the brief to provide machinery and cold storage for 16 guests and crew for 60 days, not a small task!
Her very strong build offers the opportunity to travel less chartered waters almost anywhere in the world.
ANAKENA’s elaborate teakwood interior offers ample space for 6 to 10 owners and guests in great comfort. This beautiful interior is crafted by the best carpenters in the world and an absolute work of art which today can only be copied at astronomical prices.
