A pedigreed sailing yacht with a very strong record on the international racing circuit, ALTAIR is a truly exceptional bluewater cruiser with classic design and outstanding performance. She was built in 1996 by Derecktor Shipyards and designed by Sparkman & Stephens. This 96' (29.3m) aluminum sailing yacht is equally at home on the open ocean as she is in a major superyacht race. Having undergone a comprehensive program of upgrades (including a major refit in 2026), she is an excellent opportunity for the right buyer.
Ready for serious offshore cruising, ALTAIR has a range of 2,400 nm and the ability to go on long passages in comfort. Her performance is no less impressive, having won several classes at the St Barths Bucket and the Candy Store Cup. She has a Hall Spars carbon boom with in-boom furling and new North Sails mainsail and jib.
ALTAIR has received a substantial amount of investment over the past few years. The 2026 refit was a complete rebuild of the Caterpillar 3406C main engine, new rod rigging, hull paint and varnish and new rudder seals and bearings. In 2021, new teak decks were installed. Deck hatches were rebuilt, and the steering system was refreshed in 2025. The refit also included updated Furuno and B&G navigation gear, Starlink and twin Northern Lights generators.
The classic exterior of ALTAIR is a marriage of purposeful sailing lines and very spacious areas for relaxation and entertaining. Her covered cockpit is large with U-shaped seating and dining tables, perfect for meals on deck or just soaking up the view while afloat, thanks to an array of cushioned seating. A folding swim platform, hydraulic transom steps and retractable passerelle all provide easy access to the water and the shore. A hydraulic tender crane is also fitted.
ALTAIR has a very warm and traditional interior. The main salon is bright and spacious with an L-shaped leather settee, convertible cocktail and dining tables, a wet bar and an entertainment center. The galley is fully equipped with modern appliances and ample refrigeration to support long-range cruising.
Accommodations for six guests are found in three ensuite staterooms. The large aft owner's suite has a centerline queen berth, cedar-lined lockers and a private bathroom. Two further twin cabins are available, and there are separate captain's and crew cabins.
With her pedigree, racing record and recent upgrades, ALTAIR is now ready for her next phase. She's being offered at a very rare auction price, and she is an unreal opportunity to own a distinguished and meticulously maintained yacht.
