First came Driftwood, an 18-hole oceanfront putting course located between The Lodge at Sea Island and the Atlantic.  The course provides a fun and entertaining golf experience for seasoned and not-so-seasoned golfers throughout the day and is especially popular every evening when The Lodge bagpiper pipes away the day.

Also overlooking the ocean, six new guest cottages offer a total of 14 new bedrooms with stunning ocean views, bringing the total number of rooms at The Lodge to 57.  Ideal for golfers and couples, five of the cottages feature two bedrooms and a living room, and one larger cottage features four bedrooms and a living room. Wide plank hardwood floors, beams, iron lighting, and fireplaces create a cozy atmosphere in the living spaces, and bedrooms are adorned with elegant furnishings and charming details, including paintings by local artists, custom-framed television cabinets, and white marble bathrooms.  As with all other accommodations at The Lodge, guests in the cottages enjoy have personal butler service.  Steps from the cottages are a new oceanfront pool and a pool house with double fireplaces, wrap-around porch, food and beverage service, and indoor and outdoor event space.

In March 2019, Sea Island debuts a 17,000 square-foot Golf Performance Center, featuring industry-leading technology, six instruction and club fitting bays, a putting studio designed by world-renowned putting instructor Phil Kenyon, golf club workshop, fitness center, and indoor and outdoor event spaces. The full redesign of Sea Island’s Plantation Course caps the enhancements.  Plantation, along with the signature Seaside Course, serves as the site of the PGA TOUR’s RSM Classic, hosted by Sea Island touring professional Davis Love III.  Davis and his brother, Mark, of Love Golf Design, grew up playing the course and are blending classical architectural features and historical hardscape with new elements, while retaining the original 1929 course’s character and routing.

More than 20 touring professionals live, train, and/or play at Sea Island, long known for its exceptional golf.  The new enhancements are propelling Sea Island to being known not only as an amazing family destination but also as the nation’s finest golf destination.
