How to Guide
A brief overview of how to charter a yacht.
Let us help you to create one of the most memorable experiences of your lifetime. A yacht charter is unique and unlikely to be rivaled by other vacation options. You will be able to select every option of your trip, giving you endless possibilities to create your dream charter.
As the authority on luxury yacht charters our brokers have years of experience in finding the right yacht and crew for your needs. Our charter brokers regularly travel the world and inspect destinations, yachts, crew, and service onboard to ensure your experience is exquisite.
Our brokers will be with you every step of the way while navigating your possibilities, but there are some general questions to consider:
- Are you interested in a motor or sailing yacht?
- What is your charter budget?
- Where would you like to sail your yacht?
- What destination is of interest to you?
- How many people will be traveling with you?
- When do you plan on chartering?
Once we establish your core requirements we will narrow the field and create an appropriate selection of yachts available for your destination, charter size and budget. After you review our suggestions we will explain the terms of each yacht and narrow your choice until we have found your perfect fit.
Charter Agreement
When you are ready to reserve your yacht you will receive the yacht Charter Agreement, which we will go over in detail to make sure you are comfortable with the terms.
Deposits
After reviewing and signing the Charter Agreement a deposit will be due. If the yacht charter date is longer than 6 months from the date of signing the agreement, the deposit is 25 percent. If the yacht charter is within 6 months from the date of signing the yacht Charter Agreement, we will require a 50 percent deposit. The final payment, as well as the Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA) for non-inclusive yacht charters, is made one month before the charter date begins. For non-inclusive yacht charters, your captain will keep a detailed account of food and beverage expenses that will be reconciled against your advance funds for you at the end of your yacht charter.
Food
Since each yacht charter is tailored to your specific needs we will send you a detailed questionnaire about your preferences for food and beverages, along with medical and dietary concerns. It is essential for the crew to have detailed information to assure they have everything you like and want.
Cancellation
Yacht charter cancellation terms are detailed in the yacht Charter Agreement form, which we will discuss with you before you reserve your yacht.
The Reponsibilites of Your Captain
Your captain is eager to make your yacht charter a personalized adventure of a lifetime. He or she is responsible for the safety of the vessel and all on board. Therefore, when there are issues of safety, your captain will make final decisions.
Gratuities
At your discretion, it is customary to tip the captain and crew at the completion of a yacht charter. The usual range for a tip is more or less than 15 percent of the base yacht charter fee, depending on the level of service you have received.
